Getting Around Greenwich
Greenwich faces the Thames from its southern shore, within the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Its riverside core, Maritime Greenwich, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Royal Observatory with the Prime Meridian, the Cutty Sark and the Old Royal Naval College, where the University of Greenwich now teaches. North of the town, the Greenwich Peninsula holds The O2, about 4 miles by road, 20–30 minutes.
Trains reach the area in three ways. Greenwich station has Southeastern services and the DLR; the DLR also calls at Cutty Sark, and North Greenwich is on the Jubilee line next to The O2. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival. Lewisham, the next town centre to the south, is 2 miles away, 10–15 minutes.
Greenwich is outside the Congestion Charge zone. Around the park, the market and the college the streets are narrow, so for a museum, a hotel or a riverside flat, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go. A day split between the Observatory, a meeting on the Peninsula and dinner by the river suits a booking by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in Greenwich
London City Airport is the obvious choice from Greenwich: 5 miles away, 25–35 minutes, across the river in the Royal Docks. Its one terminal served 3.74 million passengers in 2025. Heathrow is 24 miles west, 1 hour 25 minutes to 2 hours, because the drive crosses all of London. Stansted Airport is 38 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes, Southend Airport 41 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes, and Gatwick 45 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. On an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Greenwich, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: routes north of the river use the Blackwall or Silvertown tunnel, and both queue in the morning peak. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Day-Trip Travel from Greenwich
Greenwich sits close to the A2, the old road to Kent, which makes the cathedral city of Canterbury an easy day out: 55 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. Brighton, on the Sussex coast, is 67 miles, 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes.
To the west, Hampton Court Palace, Henry VIII's riverside home, is 18 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes; the time comes from crossing south London rather than from the distance. Cambridge is 58 miles north, 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes, a fair choice for a college visit.
A family that wants a palace in the morning and a river walk back in Greenwich in the evening keeps one car for the whole outing when it books by the hour. A single journey to Cambridge or Brighton takes you to the address there, and you book the trip home on its own.

Groups & Event Travel in Greenwich
The O2 on the Greenwich Peninsula hosts arena concerts and sports nights, and the ExCeL exhibition centre is about 4 miles away through the Silvertown tunnel, 20–30 minutes. The London Marathon starts in Greenwich, and in 2027 it is held over two days, 24 and 25 April, which closes roads in the area on both mornings.
For a band crew, a corporate box party at The O2 or a family meeting up for a graduation at the Old Royal Naval College, the vehicle follows the head count: a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats. List the instrument cases or exhibition boxes too, so the vehicle is matched to the load.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If guests reach London on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early around marathon weekend and big arena nights. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
