Getting Around Ashford
This page is about Ashford in Surrey, the town in the borough of Spelthorne on the south-western side of Heathrow, not Ashford in Kent. Like the rest of Spelthorne, it belonged to Middlesex until 1965. The A30 dual carriageway runs along much of its northern edge, and the M25, the M3 and the A3 are all close by.
The town is mostly residential, with a few addresses that visitors need. Ashford Hospital stands north of the centre, close to the A30. Thomas Knyvett College and St James Senior Boys' School are among its secondary schools, and Brooklands College has a campus here. Queen Mary Reservoir and Bedfont Lakes Country Park lie on the edges of the town.
Ashford station is on the Waterloo–Reading line, with South Western Railway trains to London Waterloo. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival. For a house in a cul-de-sac or a hospital entrance, send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.
On a day of errands between Ashford Hospital, a school and an office near the airport, you can book by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in Ashford
Ashford is one of the closest towns to Heathrow: the terminals are 8 miles away by road, 25–35 minutes by car. Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5 are all in use, and since 23 June 2026 Terminal 4 has had no multi-storey car park, so its pick-ups use a separate area. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Further away, Luton Airport is 40 miles, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, and Gatwick 42 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. London City Airport is 27 miles, 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes, as the route crosses the capital. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Ashford, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: the distance is short, but if the A30 by the airport is queuing in the rush hour, even this run takes longer than the map suggests. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Day-Trip Travel from Ashford
Ashford sits between the Thames towns and the airport. Feltham is 3 miles east, 10–15 minutes. Staines-upon-Thames, the borough's main town, is 3 miles west, 15–20 minutes, for shops and the riverside.
For a day out, Hampton Court Palace, Henry VIII's riverside court, is 6 miles, 25–35 minutes. Windsor is 10 miles, 30–40 minutes, with the castle and Eton across the river. Oxford, the university city, is 53 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes, a full day with time for the colleges.
By car, a family with small children sets off from home with seats fitted and bags stowed. For a trip there and back on one day, book by the hour; for a one-way journey the car drops you at the destination and the return is a separate transfer.

Groups & Event Travel in Ashford
Heathrow's closeness shapes the groups that start or end their journey here: a family reunion with relatives landing from abroad, a team flying out together, or a party staying in an airport hotel before an early departure.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If relatives come in on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own, timed to its own landing. For a group that leaves together, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load, which on an airport run is mostly suitcases.
If the group flies at the start of a school holiday, book as soon as the flights are confirmed. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early for those weeks. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
