Getting Around Barking
Barking is the older of the two towns that give the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham its name, and it was part of Essex until 1965. The borough's town hall stands in its centre. Beside St Margaret's Church lie the ruins of Barking Abbey, founded in the seventh century, and to the east, among residential streets, Eastbury Manor House, a Tudor brick house owned by the National Trust.
Barking station, in Travelcard Zone 4, brings together the District and Hammersmith & City lines, c2c trains between Fenchurch Street and Southend, and the London Overground to Gospel Oak and Barking Riverside. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
South of the A13, Barking Riverside is a new district on the Thames, with its own Overground station since 2022 and a pier for Thames Clippers boats. For a new-build flat there or a house near Barking Park, send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop. If the day mixes viewings at Barking Riverside, a meeting in Stratford and lunch in Canary Wharf, book by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in Barking
The closest airport to Barking is London City Airport: 5 miles, 20–30 minutes along the A13 to the Royal Docks. Every flight there leaves from one terminal, and 3.74 million passengers passed through it in 2025. Stansted Airport is 31 miles north, 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, and Southend Airport 33 miles east, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. Heathrow is 35 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes to 2 hours, and Luton Airport 45 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. When you fly back in, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Barking, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: the A13 and the North Circular can both back up at rush hour, so allow extra time before a morning flight from Heathrow. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Day-Trip Travel from Barking
Stratford, with the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, is 6 miles west, 30–40 minutes. Dagenham, the other half of the borough, is 4 miles, 20–30 minutes.
Further out, Cambridge is 53 miles north by the M11, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. Canterbury, with the mother church of the Church of England, is 57 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes, south across the Thames. Southampton, for a cruise, is 99 miles, 2 hours 25 minutes to 3 hours 10 minutes.
A college visit to Cambridge, back in Barking by nightfall, is simplest booked by the hour, with one car all day. For a cruise, a single journey delivers you and your cases to the ship's terminal, and the ride home from the ship is reserved as a separate trip.

Groups & Congress Travel in Barking
ExCeL, the capital's largest exhibition centre, is about 5 miles from Barking, 20–30 minutes by car, so a hotel in the town can serve as a base for a show week. DSEI, the defence and security exhibition, returns there from 7 to 10 September 2027.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If exhibitors reach London on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own. For a stand team with display cases, banners and crates, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.
Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early for the main exhibition weeks in the Royal Docks. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
