Airport Transfers from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Barking

Trusted by professionals at
One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 3 to a flat at Barking Riverside, Terminal 5 to a house near Barking Park, or a town-centre hotel to Terminal 4 after the last day of an exhibition. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Terminal 2 to a hotel in Barking for the opening day of a show at ExCeL, and back to Heathrow when the stands come down. In major exhibition weeks, cars in east London are taken early. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LHR, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Heathrow Airport to Barking: Route and Drive Time

Barking stands at the eastern edge of Greater London, beside the River Roding, and Heathrow at the western edge, so the car crosses the full width of the capital. The trip is 35 miles, normally 1 hour 25 minutes to 2 hours. For the final part, the route uses the A406 North Circular and then the A13, which passes just south of the town centre.

Barking has two very different halves. North of the A13 is the old town, with the borough's town hall, the ruins of Barking Abbey beside St Margaret's Church and the Tudor Eastbury Manor House among the streets to the east. South of it, on the Thames, Barking Riverside is a new district of flats with its own Overground station, opened in 2022.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Say in the reservation if your address is in the old town or at Barking Riverside, as they are reached from different junctions of the A13.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Heathrow Airport

Of London's six airports, only Heathrow and London City are inside Greater London; Heathrow is in the borough of Hillingdon and uses Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5. Aer Lingus and Lufthansa fly into Terminal 2, Virgin Atlantic into Terminal 3; give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

A defence or security delegation landing with sealed cases and stand material is better served by a car or van from the terminal than by public transport across London, where every change means moving the boxes again.

Arriving at Your Address in Barking

At Barking Riverside, many buildings share a street name and differ only by block, so add the building name to the address. Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. The district also has a pier for Thames Clippers river boats, if you want to continue into town by water.

In the old town, hotels and flats cluster near Barking station and the town hall. If you are visiting a house near Barking Park or Eastbury Manor, the street and number take the car to the door.

Barking station, in Travelcard Zone 4, links the District and Hammersmith & City lines with c2c trains to Fenchurch Street for the days you spend in the City.

From Barking Back to London Heathrow Airport

The drive west to Heathrow takes 1 hour 25 minutes to 2 hours, so set the time from the length of the journey. On weekday mornings, queues on the A13 and the North Circular lengthen it. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Name the terminal on your ticket in the booking: Terminals 2 and 3 share the middle of the airport, while Terminals 4 and 5 lie on its southern and western edges.

On bank holiday weekends traffic leaving London is heavy; the summer bank holiday in 2027 is on 30 August. A departure close to that date, or in the week of a large show in the Royal Docks, needs a wider margin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How far is Barking from Heathrow by car?

Barking is 35 miles from the terminals, normally 1 hour 25 minutes to 2 hours, on a route across London that ends on the A13. Give your terminal and full address when booking.

Our delegation's flight is rescheduled to the evening. What should we do?

If the flight number changes, change it in the booking too. The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, so a later arrival is followed automatically.

How do we find our car after landing at Heathrow?

Head for the parking area of the terminal you landed at, since the forecourt kerb is closed to collections. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Is Barking in Essex?

Not any more. Since the 1965 reform Barking has been a London town, centre of the borough of Barking and Dagenham, though Essex counted it as its own before that. Its IG11 postcode still carries the Ilford post town name.

What vehicle suits a delegation carrying display cases?

For up to a dozen delegates and their bags, a Sprinter van; for more, a coach. Enter the number of bags in the booking form; for golf bags, bikes or other bulky items, tell support so the vehicle is matched to the load.

What do you need to know about London Heathrow Airport in 2026–2027?

Trains no longer call below Terminals 2 and 3: that station closed on 25 June 2026, so rail travellers use Terminals 4 and 5 instead. DSEI is at ExCeL from 7 to 10 September 2027, and the summer bank holiday falls on 30 August 2027.
