Getting Around Regensburg

Regensburg's old town on the Danube, together with Stadtamhof on the opposite bank, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city is calming traffic in its medieval centre with bollards and camera checks, and deliveries in the pedestrian zones are allowed only in the morning. For a hotel inside the old town, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.

Outside the centre, Regensburg is an industrial city. The BMW plant employs more than 9,000 people and builds around 350,000 cars a year. Continental, Infineon and Krones also have major sites here, and the University and the OTH technical university bring researchers and visiting partners.

When a visit to the plant, talks at the university and lunch near the cathedral fill one day, book by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

At Regensburg Hauptbahnhof, note one change this year: until 12 December 2026 the line towards Passau is closed for works, so the Vienna–Nuremberg ICE does not stop here in that period. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.

Airport Transfers in Regensburg

Regensburg has two airports at a similar distance. Munich Airport is 105 km south, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes by car via the A93 and the A92, and has the wider choice of flights. Nuremberg Airport is 111 km north-west, 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes via the A3. At Munich, Terminal 2 serves the Lufthansa Group and Star Alliance, while Terminal 1 handles Air France, British Airways, Condor and Eurowings. The right one depends on your airline and route.

Both drives are mostly motorway, so the start time, more than the distance, decides how long the journey takes, especially near Munich in the morning.

Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Regensburg, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes for the run to Munich Airport outside the rush hours. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Cross-Border Travel from Regensburg

From Regensburg, Bavaria's other centres are within easy reach. Ingolstadt is 80 km west, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes; Nuremberg is 114 km, 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes; Munich is 127 km south, 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours. Bamberg, another UNESCO old town, is 162 km north-west, 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. In Ingolstadt, Audi has its headquarters; in Nuremberg, the NürnbergMesse has more than 170,000 m² of exhibition space, and the Spielwarenmesse runs from 2 to 6 February 2027.

Prague is 262 km away, 2 hours 50 minutes to 3 hours 50 minutes, a route that takes you across the Czech border. A meeting or a congress in the Czech capital fits into one long day there and back. The journey is booked once, with the same chauffeur and car from start to finish, with no change of vehicle at the border.

Germany has notified the European Commission of temporary checks at its internal land borders, including the border with the Czech Republic. Carry the travel documents your nationality and itinerary require.

Groups & Event Travel in Regensburg

Twice a year the Dult takes over the Dultplatz in Stadtamhof: the Maidult in May and the Herbstdult from late August into September, each with large beer tents, rides and a traditional goods market. In Advent the Romantic Christmas Market in the courtyard of the Thurn und Taxis palace at St. Emmeram adds evening crowds until shortly before Christmas.

When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If visitors to a plant or a congress arrive on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own. For a group heading to the old town or the Dultplatz together, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.

Book Dult weeks and Advent weekends as soon as the plans stand. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early in those weeks. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.

Chauffeur Service in Regensburg

1-12 passengers For business
Trusted by professionals at
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Munich or Nuremberg Airport to your hotel in Regensburg, and the drive back to the airport on departure day. With more than 100 km each way, having the return booked is useful in Dult weeks and in Advent, when the region is busy. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pickup times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service is booked by time, not by route. Name the address in Regensburg where the day starts, the address where it finishes and how many hours you want, and one chauffeur and one car are reserved for you for that time. Share the plan for the day when you book, and the chauffeur will have it in advance. It suits a day of meetings or visits rather than one ride across town.
One-Way Service
One-Way Service covers one journey between two addresses: Munich Airport to a hotel near the old town, Regensburg Hauptbahnhof to the BMW plant, Regensburg to a meeting in Prague. For an airport pickup, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur; for a departure, you set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

The Walhalla stands in Donaustauf, near Regensburg, at Walhallastraße 48, on a height above the Danube. It is open from 9:00 to 18:00 from April to October (last entry 17:45) and from 10:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 16:00 from November to March; it is closed on 1 January, Shrove Tuesday and 24, 25 and 31 December. The plant sits on the eastern fringe of the city, on Herbert-Quandt-Allee, not far from the Regensburg-Ost exit of the A3. Visitors enter by the gate their host names. Send that gate and the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

What do you need to know about Regensburg in 2026–2027?
