Getting Around Nuremberg
Nuremberg's walled old town is compact, and much of it is closed to traffic. The pedestrian zone was extended in May 2022 to more streets around Königstraße, Burgstraße and Sebalder Platz, and delivery vehicles may enter only from 18:30 to 10:30. The NürnbergMesse lies south-east of the centre, 7 km from the Hauptmarkt and 15–20 minutes by car. Its grounds have more than 170,000 m² of exhibition space, and the NürnbergConvention Center, with NCC Ost, NCC Mitte, NCC West and the Frankenhalle, holds up to 12,800 participants.
The Hauptbahnhof stands just outside the southern wall. The U2 underground line runs from there to the airport in 12–13 minutes. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.

Airport Transfers in Nuremberg
Nuremberg Airport is only 7 km north of the city, 15–20 minutes by car, so the run from a city hotel to the terminal is a short one. A transfer straight to the Messe or to a hotel in Fürth or Erlangen avoids changing with luggage at the Hauptbahnhof.
If your flight leaves from Munich, that airport is 162 km south on the A9, 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. At Munich the two terminals are joined by the Munich Airport Center, and Terminal 2 is the home of the Lufthansa Group and the Star Alliance. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Nuremberg, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 15–20 minutes to Nuremberg Airport, or 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes to Munich, more at fair times. Long-Distance & Cross-Border Travel from Nuremberg
Two well-known Franconian towns are close by. Bamberg is 59 km north, 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, and Rothenburg ob der Tauber 105 km west, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. Munich is 170 km south on the A9, 1 hour 55 minutes to 2 hours 35 minutes, a drive that also reaches its airport and the Messe in Riem, which has 18 halls. Bamberg's old town was listed by UNESCO as World Heritage in 1993. Erlangen, 19 km away, 25–35 minutes, has the Siemens Campus, the largest Siemens site worldwide, with about 16,000 people.
Prague is 300 km east on the A6 and D5, 3 hours 10 minutes to 4 hours 15 minutes. A business trip to the Czech capital is booked as one transfer, with the same chauffeur and car from start to finish, with no change of vehicle at the border.
Germany has notified the European Commission of temporary checks at its internal land borders, the Czech border included; on the way back into Bavaria a check can cost time. Carry the travel documents your nationality and itinerary require.
Groups & Congress Travel in Nuremberg
The year at the NürnbergMesse starts early. The Spielwarenmesse, the toy fair, runs from 2 to 6 February 2027, BIOFACH, the organic food fair, from 16 to 19 February 2027, and embedded world from 16 to 18 March 2027. In Advent the Christkindlesmarkt fills the Hauptmarkt; in 2026 it runs from 27 November to 24 December.
