Nuremberg Airport to Nuremberg: Route and Drive Time
NUE sits on the northern edge of Nuremberg, and the old town is just 7 km away, 15–20 minutes by car, so the drive is over almost before the luggage is stowed.
Because the distance is so short, the address decides more than the road. The walled old town lies straight ahead to the south, with the castle on its northern side and the Hauptbahnhof just outside the southern wall. The NürnbergMesse is a different case: it lies in the south-east of the city, 14 km from the terminal and 30–40 minutes away, so on a fair morning the trip there takes about twice as long as the run into the old town.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. The booking should carry your flight number and full address, and for the Messe add the hall or the NCC entrance.
Meeting Your Chauffeur at Nuremberg Airport
Officially named Albrecht Dürer Airport Nürnberg, NUE had its best year so far in 2025, with 4,508,765 passengers. About 2.8 million of them flew on scheduled and low-cost services, and more than 1.6 million on holiday charters, so a business traveller and a family back from the beach can land within minutes of each other.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
The airport also has its own underground station: the U2 reaches the Hauptbahnhof in about 12 minutes. That suits a light traveller heading for the station. With cases, children or an address away from the U2 line, a car to the door saves the stairs and the change of line.
Arriving at Your Address in Nuremberg
Much of the old town inside the walls is a pedestrian zone. Since May 2022 it has also covered streets such as Königstraße, Burgstraße and Sebalder Platz, and only delivery traffic may drive in, between 18:30 and 10:30. Outside the walls the drop-off is straightforward. Hotels along the ring and around the Hauptbahnhof lie outside the pedestrian zone. At the NürnbergMesse, with more than 170,000 m² of exhibition space, the NürnbergConvention Center holds up to 12,800 participants in NCC Ost, NCC Mitte, NCC West and the Frankenhalle; naming the right one saves a walk across the grounds.
For an office or a private address in the suburbs, the street and house number are all the chauffeur needs.
From Nuremberg Back to Nuremberg Airport
For the airport run, the length of the drive is what to plan around: 15–20 minutes between the old town and the terminal, longer on a fair day when the ring roads are busy. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Advent changes the city side. The Christkindlesmarkt on the Hauptmarkt opens on 27 November 2026 and stays until 24 December, and the old town fills with visitors, so a pickup at a hotel near the market should be placed outside the pedestrian zone and given extra time.
The Dokuzentrum Reichsparteitagsgelände, rebuilt in 2021–2026 with a new 1,600 m² exhibition, can be a pickup point; its media-guide tour takes about 90 minutes. On the last day of a fair, an exhibitor can be collected at the Messe itself, once the stand is packed, and taken straight to the terminal.
