Getting Around Ingolstadt

Ingolstadt is Audi's home town. The company's headquarters and main plant are in the north of the city, and the Audi Forum next to them covers 77,000 m², with the museum mobile showing more than 120 historic vehicles. From the old town it is 3 km, 10–15 minutes by car. A supplier meeting at Audi and a visit to the museum can be combined in one morning.

Closer to the centre, on the former foundry site by the Danube, a congress centre opened together with a Maritim hotel, alongside an Audi academy and university buildings. It gives conferences in Ingolstadt a venue in the heart of the city, on the river.

The railway is fast here. Ingolstadt lies on the high-speed line between Nuremberg and Munich, with ICE trains every hour; Nuremberg is about 27 minutes away by ICE. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.

For a day split between Audi, the congress centre and a meeting in the old town, book by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers in Ingolstadt

Munich Airport is 71 km south of Ingolstadt, 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes by car on the A9 and the A92, which makes it the closer of the two main airports; in 2025 it handled 43.4 million passengers. Nuremberg Airport is 105 km north, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes on the A9 and the A3. It lies on the northern edge of its city, and the U2 underground links its terminal with the Nuremberg Hauptbahnhof in about 12 minutes. Memmingen is 187 km away, 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.

Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Ingolstadt, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes to Munich Airport when the A9 flows. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Cross-Border Travel from Ingolstadt

Ingolstadt lies in the middle of a ring of Bavarian cities, each a little over an hour away. Regensburg is 79 km east, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes; Munich is 80 km, Augsburg 82 km, both 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes; Nuremberg is 95 km north, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. A supplier tour that visits two of them in a day works well with a car. Nuremberg's exhibition centre hosts the Spielwarenmesse toy fair from 2 to 6 February 2027 and BIOFACH from 16 to 19 February, and in Munich the building fair BAU runs from 11 to 15 January 2027.

Salzburg, across the Austrian border, is 226 km away, 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 25 minutes, for a concert or a meeting in Austria. You book the whole route at once, with the same chauffeur and car from start to finish, with no change of vehicle at the border.

Germany has notified the European Commission of temporary checks at its internal land borders, which include the crossing near Salzburg, so the drive back can take longer. Carry the travel documents your nationality and itinerary require.

Groups & Congress Travel in Ingolstadt

Business groups come to Ingolstadt for Audi and for meetings at the congress centre by the Danube. The city's own calendar adds two peaks: the Herbstvolksfest, ten days of beer tents and rides from late September into early October, and the Christkindlmarkt between the Theaterplatz and the Rathausplatz from late November until just before Christmas.

When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If delegates land on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own, from Munich or from Nuremberg. For a group touring the plant and the Audi Forum, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.

Book congress dates and Advent weekends early. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early in those weeks. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.

Chauffeur Service in Ingolstadt

1-12 passengers For business
Trusted by professionals at
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Munich or Nuremberg Airport to a hotel in Ingolstadt, and back to whichever of the two you fly home from. For a supplier visit planned around a fixed flight home, the run back to the terminal is in place from the first day. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pickup times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service is booked by time, not by route. Name the address in Ingolstadt where the day starts, the address where it finishes and how many hours you want, and one chauffeur and one car are reserved for you for that time. Share the plan for the day when you book, and the chauffeur will have it in advance. It suits a day of meetings or visits rather than one ride across town.
One-Way Service
One-Way Service covers one journey between two addresses: Munich Airport to a hotel in the old town, Ingolstadt Hauptbahnhof to the Audi Forum, Ingolstadt to a meeting in Regensburg. For an airport pickup, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur; for a departure, you set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I travel by train straight to the Audi plant in Ingolstadt?

Yes. The Ingolstadt Audi stop lies inside the plant in the north of the city, at August-Horch-Straße 1, with a direct path from the platform to the plant grounds and a transport hub with bus bays beside it. Only regional trains call there; ICE trains stop at the Hauptbahnhof. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.

Can I take a factory tour at Audi in Ingolstadt?

Yes. The Audi Forum runs plant tours from Monday to Friday: 60 minutes for final assembly, 75 minutes for the body shop, or 120 minutes for both combined. The current dates are in Audi's online ticket shop, which is updated daily. Send the tour start time with your booking, so the pickup can be set around it.

Which terminal do I use at Munich Airport?

Terminal 2, open since 2003, serves the Lufthansa Group and the airlines of its Star Alliance; its satellite is reached by an underground train in under a minute. Air France, British Airways, Condor and Eurowings fly from Terminal 1. Your ticket names the terminal; state it in the booking and the car is sent there.

What do you need to know about Ingolstadt in 2026–2027?

The Audi museum mobile has been closed on Mondays since 4 May 2026. The Christkindlmarkt runs from 25 November to 23 December 2026. Germany's notified checks at its internal land borders run until 15 March 2027, which counts for a drive to Salzburg.
