Airport Transfers from Munich Airport (MUC) to Ingolstadt

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 2 to the Audi Forum, Terminal 1 to the Maritim hotel by the Danube, or a hotel in the old town to MUC for a morning flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: MUC to your hotel in Ingolstadt or straight to Audi on arrival, and back down the A9 for the flight home. For a supplier with a fixed meeting slot and a return flight already booked, both rides are settled together. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pickup times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at MUC, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

Munich Airport to Ingolstadt: Route and Drive Time

Ingolstadt lies north of the airport, on the Danube, roughly halfway between Munich and Nuremberg. The transfer is 71 km and normally takes 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes: the A92 takes you west from the terminal to the A9, and the A9 runs north to the city. Since the route never enters Munich, the A9 is what decides the time, and holiday weekends or roadworks slow it most.

At the Ingolstadt end, business trips mainly lead to three areas. Audi's head office, its works and the Audi Forum occupy the northern side, so a car coming off the A9 gets there before reaching the centre. The old town is a few kilometres further south. Down by the Danube, the old foundry grounds now hold a congress centre, a Maritim hotel, an Audi academy and buildings of the university.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Munich Airport

At MUC, the airline determines the terminal. Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners use Terminal 2, which was built together with Lufthansa and opened in 2003; Air France, British Airways and Eurowings are among the airlines at Terminal 1. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.

For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.

A supplier flying in for a plant meeting may arrive on an early connection through another hub. Should the airline move you to another flight, change the flight number in your booking. By rail you would first ride the S-Bahn into Munich and change to an ICE there.

Arriving at Your Address in Ingolstadt

Audi's head office and main works are based in the north of Ingolstadt. Beside them, the Audi Forum spreads over 77,000 m², and its museum mobile displays over 120 cars from the brand's history. A meeting in the plant and a visit to the museum do not start at the same door, so the building matters as much as the street. Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

Conferences have their own venue in the centre: the congress centre on the old foundry site by the Danube, opened together with a Maritim hotel. A delegate staying there can walk into the old town in the evening.

From the old town, the Audi Forum is only 3 km away, 10–15 minutes by car, so a hotel in the centre works for a plant visit as well.

From Ingolstadt Back to Munich Airport

Plan the trip south by its length: from the centre of Ingolstadt to the terminal it is 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes when the A9 flows, more on holiday weekends or in roadworks. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Name the departure terminal from your ticket. Lufthansa and Star Alliance flights leave from Terminal 2, other airlines from Terminal 1, and the car pulls up at the one you give.

In the city, two peaks need extra margin. For ten days around the turn of September and October, the Herbstvolksfest sets up its tents, and in Advent the Christmas market on the Theaterplatz and Rathausplatz draws crowds into the centre. A visitor leaving straight after a meeting at Audi can be collected at the plant gate, which keeps the drive to the airport on the north side of the city.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

Is there a railway station inside the Audi plant?

Yes. The station called Ingolstadt Audi sits inside the works on the northern side, with regional trains and a direct path onto the plant grounds. Guests arriving by rail from elsewhere can get off there instead of at the Hauptbahnhof.

Is the Audi museum mobile open on Mondays?

No. Since 4 May 2026 the museum mobile at the Audi Forum has been closed on Mondays, so a visit combined with a flight is better planned for another weekday.

Can the car go on from Ingolstadt to Salzburg?

Yes, as a separate journey of 226 km, 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 25 minutes, along the A9, A99, A8 and A1.

Can the car go on from Ingolstadt to the NürnbergMesse?

Yes, as a separate journey. The fair grounds are 95 km from Ingolstadt, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes, and the NürnbergMesse offers more than 170,000 m² of exhibition space.

Is there a fast train from Ingolstadt to Nuremberg?

Yes. An ICE runs hourly on the Nuremberg–Ingolstadt–Munich high-speed line, and the ride from Ingolstadt to Nuremberg takes about 27 minutes.

What do you need to know about Munich Airport in 2026–2027?

A new pier, opened in April 2026, serves all non-Schengen departures and arrivals of Terminal 1. In Nuremberg, the Spielwarenmesse runs from 2 to 6 February 2027 and BIOFACH from 16 to 19 February 2027.
