Getting Around Erfurt
Erfurt is where two of Germany's long-distance rail routes cross. At Erfurt Hauptbahnhof the ICE line from Berlin to Munich meets the line from Frankfurt to Dresden, and since December 2017 the high-speed line from Nuremberg has ended here. The station is about 500 metres south of the Anger, the central square, so the old town begins right outside. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
The Domplatz below the cathedral covers 1.5 hectares and is the stage for the city's large open-air events. Trams and cars still use the square, but on event days allow extra time for the last few hundred metres.
Messe Erfurt is on the western edge of the city, next to the airport. It has three halls and a Congress Center with seven divisible rooms for events of up to 1,600 people; Hall 1 alone takes 5,200 conference guests.
For a day of meetings in the state ministries, at the Messe and in Weimar, booked by the hour, one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers in Erfurt
Erfurt–Weimar Airport is 6 km west of the centre, 15–20 minutes by car, and the Messe is 2 km from the terminal, 10–15 minutes. The other options are further away: Leipzig/Halle is 142 km north-east, 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes, and Kassel Airport 168 km, 1 hour 55 minutes to 2 hours 35 minutes. Erfurt–Weimar has one passenger terminal and mostly seasonal flights to leisure destinations such as Antalya and Palma de Mallorca. At Leipzig/Halle the railway station lies below the terminal. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Erfurt, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 15–20 minutes to Erfurt–Weimar, but 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes to Leipzig/Halle on the A4 and A9. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Multi-City Travel from Erfurt
Weimar is 23 km east, 30–40 minutes, and Jena 49 km, 45 minutes to 1 hour; with Erfurt they form a row of three cities along the A4. A delegation can hold a meeting in each on the same day. In Weimar, the Classical Weimar sites and the Bauhaus buildings are UNESCO World Heritage. Jena is home to Carl Zeiss, Schott and Jenoptik, to a university founded in 1558 and to Thuringia's only university hospital.
Further out, Leipzig is 148 km north-east, 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes, and Bamberg 172 km south, 2 hours to 2 hours 40 minutes. Frankfurt is 258 km west, 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 45 minutes. A trip to a client in Frankfurt or Leipzig is a single booking that runs from the hotel in Erfurt to the client's address, with the luggage kept in one car. The Leipzig Book Fair runs from 18 to 21 March 2027, and the exhibition grounds in Frankfurt have 400,237 m² of hall space.
If the day takes you to several addresses one after another, book by the hour instead of separate transfers.

Groups & Congress Travel in Erfurt
The Congress Center at Messe Erfurt hosts congresses and meetings of up to 1,600 people throughout the year. The Domplatz brings the other peaks: the Domstufen-Festspiele, Theater Erfurt's open-air festival on the cathedral steps, every summer, the Martinsfest on 10 and 11 November, and in Advent one of Germany's largest Christmas markets.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If the delegates come in on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own, and the same applies to trains. For a party that travels together, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load, conference material included.
Book early for August, November and December. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early in those weeks. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
