Getting Around Braunschweig
A business trip to Braunschweig may well lead to a research institute. The city is home to the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany's national metrology institute, to a large site of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and to the Technische Universität. The ForschungRegion Braunschweig association groups 24 scientific institutions. At the Research Airport (Forschungsflughafen), 12 km from the centre and 25–35 minutes by car, aviation research and companies share one site.
The Hauptbahnhof is 1.6 km south-east of the city centre, so allow a short drive into town. Two ICE lines link it with Berlin and with Frankfurt via Göttingen, and InterCity trains run towards Leipzig, Cologne and Bremen. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
For a day split between the PTB, a DLR institute at the Research Airport and a meeting at the university, book by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers in Braunschweig
Braunschweig has no major passenger airport of its own. Hannover Airport is 72 km west on the A2, 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes by car. Hannover Airport has Terminals A, B, C and D and is open around the clock, without night-flight restrictions. Trains of the S5 line stop between Terminals B and C and take 17 minutes to Hannover Hauptbahnhof. Kassel Airport is 166 km away, 1 hour 55 minutes to 2 hours 35 minutes, and Bremen Airport 172 km, 2 hours to 2 hours 40 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Braunschweig, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes to Hannover Airport on a normal day, more when the A2 is slow. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Multi-City Travel from Braunschweig
Braunschweig's neighbours are close. Salzgitter, with its steel and engine plants, is 20 km south, 30–40 minutes, and Wolfsburg, home of Volkswagen, 34 km north, 40–55 minutes. Hanover is 67 km west, 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes. Wolfsburg's Volkswagen plant dates from 1938, and no other car factory in the world covers a larger single site. Customers collecting a new car at the Autostadt are asked to arrive 90 minutes ahead of their appointment, so allow for that when planning the drive. Salzgitter AG, a Volkswagen engine plant (1969) and a Bosch plant (1985) are among Salzgitter's large employers.
Further afield, Leipzig is 208 km south-east, 2 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours 10 minutes, and Berlin 231 km east, 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 25 minutes. A researcher who visits partners in Braunschweig and Wolfsburg in the morning and has a meeting in Berlin the next day can travel by car with the equipment cases in the boot.
Whichever of these cities you need, the drive is booked as one transfer; for a day of visits across the region, book by the hour.

Groups & Event Travel in Braunschweig
A delegation to Braunschweig may need several addresses. A visit to the PTB, a tour of a test facility at the Research Airport and a workshop at the university can fall on the same day, each with its own gate and car park. A group can also continue to the Hanover exhibition grounds, 70 km away, for HANNOVER MESSE, which in 2027 runs from 5 to 8 April.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If guests arrive on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own from Hannover Airport. For a delegation moving between institutes, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.
For the week of the Hanover fair in April, book early. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early in that week. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
