Getting Around Elmshorn
Elmshorn, with about 51,000 residents, is the largest town in the Pinneberg district and the most densely populated municipality in Schleswig-Holstein. It grew up around the harbour on the Krückau river, which once served whaling ships and shipyards; food production is now the main industry, and the oat-flake maker Peter Kölln has a large plant in the town.
The station is a rail junction. Lines from Hamburg divide here towards Kiel, towards Westerland on Sylt and towards Bad Oldesloe, so a rail trip to the coast may involve a change of trains in Elmshorn. Arriving on one of these lines? Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
The A23 runs past the town with its own Elmshorn junction. For a day of visits to firms in Elmshorn and around Hamburg, with the hours booked in advance, one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers in Elmshorn
From Elmshorn to Hamburg Airport it is 36 km by the A23, 40–55 minutes; its two terminals are joined by the Airport Plaza, with the S1 station below. Lübeck Airport is 107 km east, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes, and in 2026 its flights include Ryanair to London Stansted, Palma and Málaga, with a Munich route since April. Bremen Airport is 146 km to the south-west, 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes; its busiest routes in 2025 were Munich and Frankfurt. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Elmshorn, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 40–55 minutes to Hamburg Airport early in the day or late at night, more once commuter traffic builds up towards Hamburg. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Multi-City Travel from Elmshorn
Pinneberg, the district town and the end of S-Bahn line S3 from Hamburg, is 7 km south, 15–20 minutes, and central Hamburg is 37 km, 40–55 minutes; the CCH congress centre there stands next to Dammtor station. Lübeck is 101 km east, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes; UNESCO listed its old town as World Heritage in 1987.
On the Baltic coast, Travemünde is 119 km away, 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes, and ferries to Trelleborg and Helsinki leave from its Skandinavienkai quay. Warnemünde is 226 km, 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 25 minutes. When a ship or ferry leaves from the Baltic rather than from Hamburg, one booking covers the ride from your door to the port.
To the south-west, Bremen is 146 km away, 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes, and Hanover is 187 km, 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes. Bremen's central city is a low-emission zone (Umweltzone) that requires a green sticker. If a train connection to one of these cities would mean a change in Hamburg with bags, a car from Elmshorn to the final address keeps it to one journey.

Groups & Event Travel in Elmshorn
For a cruise or a day at the harbour, a trip from Elmshorn ends at the water in Hamburg. Cruise ships leave from the Altona, Steinwerder and HafenCity terminals, and each May the Hafengeburtstag fills the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken; in 2027 it is held from 6 to 9 May. A family or a club setting out from Elmshorn for a cruise has suitcases for a week or more, which is easier in one vehicle than on two trains.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If relatives fly in on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own. When everyone leaves together, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.
Book as soon as your sailing date is known, and early for the Hafengeburtstag weekend. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early around those dates. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
