Erfurt–Weimar Airport to Erfurt: Route and Drive Time
The airport is on the western edge of Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia, and the trip to the centre is only 6 km, usually 15–20 minutes by car.
With so short a drive, the city end decides most of the time. From the Anger, the central square, it is roughly 500 metres south to the Hauptbahnhof, and the Domplatz below the cathedral covers 1.5 hectares; trams and cars share it, and on event days the last stretch can take longer than everything before it. The exhibition grounds of the Messe, by contrast, are right beside the airport, about 2 km from the terminal, 10–15 minutes.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Give the flight number and the full address when you book, with the hall or the Congress Center entrance for the Messe.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Erfurt–Weimar Airport
ERF is chiefly a holiday airport. Its 2025 total of 314,108 passengers was 85.1% above the year before; the 2025 summer holidays were led by Antalya, and SunExpress flew more passengers than any other airline, followed by Eurowings and Air Cairo. A return from those resorts tends to mean suitcases, beach bags and sometimes child seats.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
The terminal also has a tram stop: line 4 takes about 20 minutes to the Hauptbahnhof. A car goes to the door of the house or hotel instead, which counts when the luggage is heavy and the children are tired after a night flight.

Arriving at Your Address in Erfurt
Erfurt is the capital of Thuringia, and appointments at the state ministries bring official visitors. The old town begins right outside the Hauptbahnhof, and the Domplatz below the cathedral is the stage for the city's large open-air events; hotels around the Anger are close to both.
At the Messe, the Congress Center splits into seven rooms and holds events of up to 1,600 people, alongside three exhibition halls; Hall 1 seats 5,200 for a conference. For a fair or a congress, the hall or the Congress Center entrance is a better target than the street.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For a flat in the old town, add the floor or the name on the bell if the entrance is in a courtyard.

From Erfurt Back to Erfurt–Weimar Airport
A drive of 15–20 minutes leaves little to calculate, but the old town can still hold you up. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Allow more on the evening of a Domplatz event: the Domstufen-Festspiele on the cathedral steps in summer and the Christmas market through Advent, one of the largest in Germany. Trams and cars use the square on those days as well, so the car may need longer to get clear of it.
An exhibitor leaving from the Messe has the shortest possible run, since the grounds are next to the airport; a family returning from the beach does well to leave a little earlier than the short distance suggests. A colleague leaving by train goes from the Hauptbahnhof, about 500 metres south of the Anger.
