Getting Around Crowborough
Crowborough is a town in the Wealden district of East Sussex, on the eastern edge of Ashdown Forest, the heathland behind A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh stories. It is the highest town in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle lived at Windlesham Manor here for the last 23 years of his life, and his statue stands at Crowborough Cross.
Crowborough station is in Jarvis Brook, south-east of the centre, with direct trains to London Bridge. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival. The A26 is the main road, running north to Tunbridge Wells and south towards Newhaven.
For a house down one of the forest lanes, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go. The Ashdown Forest Centre is about 9 miles away, 25–35 minutes; a morning there and lunch back in town fit one hourly booking: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in Crowborough
Gatwick is the nearest airport: 22 miles from Crowborough, 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes by car. At Gatwick, easyJet flies mainly from the North Terminal and British Airways short-haul from the South Terminal, so check your ticket. Heathrow is 59 miles, 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 5 minutes. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. London City Airport is 48 miles, 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes, and London Southend Airport 63 miles, 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 5 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For a family coming home from a holiday, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Crowborough, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: every airport run starts on A-roads through the Weald, so allow for the slower stretch before the motorway. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Day-Trip Travel from Crowborough
Tunbridge Wells is 8 miles north, 25–35 minutes, and East Grinstead 14 miles, 40–55 minutes.

With an hourly booking, one chauffeur covers the drive there and the way back; with a one-way booking, the trip ends where you are set down, and the return is a fresh reservation.

Groups & Event Travel in Crowborough
For a Sherlock Holmes society coming to see the Conan Doyle statue, or a walking group heading into Ashdown Forest, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load, muddy boots included.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. Relatives may land at different times for a family event: on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own.
Crowborough is known for its Guy Fawkes celebrations and its carnival. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early around bonfire night and on summer weekends. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
