Getting Around Basildon
Basildon was designated a new town on 4 January 1949, built around the older villages of Pitsea, Laindon and Vange, and it became a borough in 2010. Gloucester Park sits at the heart of the town, with Basildon Sporting Village and its Olympic-size pool, opened in 2011. Basildon University Hospital serves the area.
The town is a place of work as well as a home for commuters. CNH Industrial builds tractors at its plant on Cranes Farm Road, Leonardo has a site here, and Ford's Dunton Technical Centre is in the borough. For a factory gate, a hospital entrance or an address in the Eastgate shopping centre area, send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.
Trains from Basildon, Pitsea and Laindon stations are run by c2c and terminate at Fenchurch Street. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival. By road, the A127 runs along the north of the town and the A13 along the south, both towards London and Southend.
For a supplier audit at two plants and a lunch meeting in Billericay, reserve the car by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in Basildon
Southend Airport is 14 miles east, 35–50 minutes by car. Further west, London City Airport is 25 miles, 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, and served 3.74 million passengers in 2025. Stansted Airport is 37 miles, 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes.
Gatwick is 53 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes, across the Thames at Dartford, and Luton Airport 55 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. When your flight comes in, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Basildon, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: London City Airport is reached along the A13, and the stretch through east London decides how long it takes. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Day-Trip Travel from Basildon
Billericay is 5 miles north, 20–30 minutes. Tilbury is 11 miles south-west, 25–35 minutes; its port holds the cruise terminal on Ferry Road, so a cruise can begin almost on the doorstep.
Maidstone, in Kent, is 37 miles, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, and Cambridge 60 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes.
Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, Winston Churchill's birthplace, is 102 miles, 2 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes. To keep the car for the return, book by the hour; one-way, the car leaves once you reach Blenheim, and returning means a second booking.

Groups & Event Travel in Basildon
If an engineering team comes to visit the plants and research sites in the borough, or a swimming club travels to a gala at the Sporting Village, there are people, equipment and a schedule to fit together. For a group like that, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load, laptop cases and sample boxes included.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If colleagues fly in from overseas offices on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own, straight to the hotel or the site.
Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early on cruise embarkation days at Tilbury and around bank holidays. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
