London Gatwick Airport to Crowborough: Route and Drive Time
Crowborough lies south-east of Gatwick, in the Wealden district of East Sussex, and the airport is the nearest one to the town. The drive is 22 miles, normally 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes. It is a country route with no motorway: east through Turners Hill, south on the A22 and then across the open heath of Ashdown Forest, entering the town from the west.
No town in the High Weald stands higher than Crowborough, so the last miles climb. The address decides the final part: the centre around Crowborough Cross, Jarvis Brook with the station to the south-east, or one of the lanes on the forest side of the town.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. With no fast road on the way, allow the full time shown.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Gatwick Airport
Gatwick's two terminals, North and South, each serve their own set of airlines, with a shuttle train in between. Check your ticket and give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there. Pre-booked cars collect from Short Stay parking at the terminal.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.
There is no easy rail link for this trip. Crowborough station, in Jarvis Brook, has direct trains to London Bridge, not to the airport, so the train means a change of line and a ride back south.

Arriving at Your Address in Crowborough
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle spent the last 23 years of his life at Windlesham Manor in Crowborough, and his statue stands at Crowborough Cross in the centre. To the west, Ashdown Forest is the heathland of A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh stories.
If your house is on a lane towards the forest, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go. In the town itself and in Jarvis Brook, the street and number are usually all that is needed.
The A26 is the town's main through road, linking it with Tunbridge Wells in one direction and Newhaven on the coast in the other. If you are staying on that road, a house name or the name of the business helps the chauffeur find the entrance.

From Crowborough Back to London Gatwick Airport
For the drive back, count on 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes across the forest and through Turners Hill, and longer in poor weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Give the departure terminal in the booking: the two terminals are almost a mile apart.
Bonfire night is a big occasion in Crowborough. If you fly out on a bonfire evening, leave from the town a little earlier.
