Getting Around Norwood
This page covers West Norwood, the part of Norwood that belongs to the London Borough of Lambeth; South Norwood and Upper Norwood stretch east towards Croydon and Crystal Palace. The name goes back to the Great North Wood, the oak forest that once covered these hills. Norwood Road and Knight's Hill form the local high street, and Brixton is 2 miles north, 15–20 minutes.
West Norwood Cemetery, opened in 1837, is one of the "Magnificent Seven" Victorian cemeteries of London and still has a working crematorium. The South London Theatre performs in the old fire station on Norwood High Street, and on the first Sunday of the month from April to December the West Norwood Feast market fills the town centre.
West Norwood station, in fare zone 3, has Southern trains into central London. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival. West Norwood lies outside the Congestion Charge zone. For a house on one of the hillside roads, send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.
If a day holds a service at the cemetery, a family lunch in Brixton and a visit to relatives across south London, reserve it by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in Norwood
London City Airport is the nearest on the map: 11 miles, 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, out in the Royal Docks, where 3.74 million passengers passed through in 2025. Heathrow is 21 miles west, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. Gatwick is 26 miles south, also 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes, so from West Norwood the drive to either of the two big airports takes about as long. Luton Airport is 39 miles, 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes; Stansted Airport is 44 miles, 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. For a departure from Norwood, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: the road to Gatwick passes through Streatham and Croydon, and the one to Heathrow crosses Wandsworth, so a weekday morning start needs extra room. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Day-Trip Travel from Norwood
Forest Hill, home of the Horniman Museum and Gardens, is 3 miles east, 20–30 minutes, a short outing for children and grandparents alike. Guildford, the county town of Surrey, is 28 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes.
Two longer trips lead south and east. Whitstable, on the north Kent coast, is 58 miles, 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 5 minutes. Goodwood, the West Sussex estate with a racecourse and a motor circuit, is 62 miles, 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 25 minutes.
For a day on the Kent coast with the drive home in the evening, an hourly reservation keeps one car and one chauffeur from the first pick-up in West Norwood to the last drop. If you are staying on in Sussex or Kent, a single transfer ends at that address, and the return needs a reservation of its own.

Groups & Event Travel in Norwood
Funerals and memorial services at West Norwood Cemetery and Crematorium bring families together from across the country and abroad. For relatives who arrive as one party with their bags, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If family members come in on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own, whether they land at City Airport, Gatwick or Heathrow.
Nearby Selhurst Park, the home of Crystal Palace FC in South Norwood, draws crowds on match days, and Feast Sundays fill the town centre. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early around the Christmas season. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
