Getting Around New Cross
New Cross is a district of the London Borough of Lewisham, best known as the home of Goldsmiths, University of London, whose campus lies between Lewisham Way and New Cross Road. The A2 runs through the district on its way from central London to Kent, so the main road is never far from any address here.
There are two stations a short walk apart. New Cross has Southeastern trains to London Bridge and the London Overground, and New Cross Gate has Southern and Overground services. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival. Greenwich, with the river and the museums, is 2 miles east, 10–15 minutes.
Halls of residence, shared houses and college buildings are spread across several streets. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop. For a visiting lecturer or an examiner with sessions on campus and appointments in central London, an hourly booking works: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in New Cross
London City Airport is the nearest, 6 miles, 30–40 minutes. Heathrow is 22 miles west, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes; since 25 June 2026 its Terminals 2 and 3 rail station has been closed, which makes the car the more direct option for those terminals. Stansted Airport is 39 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes, Luton Airport 39 miles, 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes, and Southend Airport 42 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes to 2 hours. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For a student landing from abroad, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from New Cross, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: the A2 towards the Old Kent Road and the routes west to Heathrow both build up in the rush hours. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Day-Trip Travel from New Cross
Oxford and Cambridge are the classic university day trips. Oxford is 68 miles, 2 hours to 2 hours 35 minutes, and Cambridge 60 miles, 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 5 minutes. A visiting academic can see a college library in the morning and be back in south-east London for the evening.
Closer in, Hampton Court Palace is 17 miles south-west, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. For Harry Potter fans, Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is 27 miles away, 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 5 minutes; tickets are sold for timed entry, so pick a pick-up time that fits the slot.
Out and back before dark? An hourly reservation keeps the car with you. A single journey to Oxford or Cambridge ends at the address you give there, and coming back is a separate booking.

Groups & Event Travel in New Cross
Goldsmiths students come from across the UK and abroad, and their families travel too. For parents moving a student into halls with boxes, a bicycle and a suitcase each, or for a department hosting a visiting delegation, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats. Tell us what the luggage is, so the vehicle is matched to the load.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If a family or a conference party arrives on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own.
Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early in the moving-in weeks at the start of term and around graduation. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
