Getting Around Hertford
Hertford is the county town of Hertfordshire, in East Hertfordshire district, where the rivers Mimram, Beane and Rib flow into the Lea. Hertfordshire County Council is based at County Hall in the town, so meetings with the council and its services bring visitors in from across the county. The A414 and the A10 connect Hertford with the A1(M) and the M25.
In the centre, the former Hertford Theatre reopened in 2024 as BEAM after a three-year redevelopment, with a main auditorium, a studio theatre and three cinema screens. The grounds of Hertford Castle lie right behind it.
The town has two stations. Hertford East has trains to London Liverpool Street, and Hertford North is on the line to Moorgate and King's Cross. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival. For a house in the narrow streets of the old centre, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.
A working day split between County Hall, an office in Welwyn Garden City and a site meeting in Ware can be booked by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in Hertford
Hertford lies between two airports that take about the same time to reach. Luton Airport is 20 miles to the north-west, 45 minutes to 1 hour 5 minutes; Stansted Airport is 23 miles to the north-east, 45 minutes to 1 hour 5 minutes. Stansted works from one terminal, and an extension approved in October 2024 is designed to let it handle up to 43 million passengers a year.
Further out, London City Airport is 34 miles, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, and Heathrow 40 miles, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, with flights from Terminals 2 to 5. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. When you land, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Hertford, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: the A414 leads east towards the M11 for Stansted and west to the A1(M) for Luton, and both stretches slow down at peak times. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Day-Trip Travel from Hertford
Short trips stay inside the county. Ware, the next town down the River Lea, is 3 miles, 15–20 minutes. Welwyn Garden City, founded in 1920 as England's second garden city, is 7 miles, 20–30 minutes.
Central London is 30 miles away, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, since the last part of the drive runs through the capital's own traffic. Cambridge, home of the university, is 34 miles to the north, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes.
For a day at the seaside, Eastbourne on the Sussex coast is 98 miles, 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 55 minutes. To be home again that night, choose an hourly booking, with the same driver and vehicle from departure to return; if you only need one direction, a one-way booking ends at the address you name.

Groups & Event Travel in Hertford
Knebworth Park, about 11 miles from Hertford and 30–40 minutes by car, hosts large outdoor concerts, and Oasis are due to play there in September 2027. If you are taking a crowd of friends to a show, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If guests from abroad fly in for the concert on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own, and the vehicle is matched to the load.
Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early on concert weekends, so reserve as soon as your tickets are confirmed. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
