Getting Around Hammersmith
Hammersmith, by the Thames in west London, makes up the northern part of Hammersmith and Fulham, a London borough. It is a district of offices, theatres and transport links: the Eventim Apollo stages concerts and comedy, the Lyric Hammersmith is a producing theatre, and to the north, White City has BBC Television Centre, now flats, offices and studios, and the Westfield London shopping centre.
Traffic here follows the A4. The Hammersmith flyover carries it over the gyratory towards Chiswick, the M4 and Heathrow. The river crossing is a different matter: Hammersmith Bridge, designed by Sir Joseph Bazalgette and opened in 1887, has been closed to all motor traffic since April 2019 after cracks were found in its pedestals. Walkers and cyclists can still use it, but a car to Barnes or Putney goes round by another bridge.
Hammersmith has two Underground stations: one for the District and Piccadilly lines, the other for the Hammersmith & City and Circle lines. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival. For an address on the riverside or on a street near the gyratory, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.
A day split between a recording at White City, a meeting in Kensington and a show at the Apollo can be booked by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in Hammersmith
Heathrow is 13 miles from Hammersmith, 35–50 minutes, straight out along the A4 and the M4; it carried 84.5 million passengers in 2025 through Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5. London City Airport is the same 13 miles, yet takes 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes, because the drive crosses central London. Luton Airport is 36 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes, Gatwick 39 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes to 2 hours, and Southend Airport 47 miles, 2 hours to 2 hours 50 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. After a late landing, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks.
For a departure from Hammersmith, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: if your trip starts south of the river, the closed bridge adds a detour, so allow for it. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Day-Trip Travel from Hammersmith
Kensington, with its museums and palace, is 2 miles from Hammersmith, 10–15 minutes. Chiswick is 3 miles, 15–20 minutes, and central London 5 miles, 30–40 minutes.
Henley-on-Thames, famous for its royal regatta, is 33 miles, 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes. Cambridge, the university city on the Cam, is 64 miles, 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes.
A Cambridge day with college visits and the drive back to Hammersmith at night is one booking by the hour. For a weekend in Henley, book two one-way transfers, one there and one back, on the dates you choose.

Groups & Event Travel in Hammersmith
The Eventim Apollo hosts concerts and comedy nights, and BBC Studioworks records shows in Studios 1 to 3 at Television Centre in White City. For a production crew of fifteen flying in for a week of recordings, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load, flight cases included.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If cast and crew land on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own, and the hotel runs after late recordings sit in the same account.
Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early on nights of big concerts and in the Christmas season. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
