Getting Around Eltham
Eltham is a suburban district in the south of the Royal Borough of Greenwich. It grew around a royal palace: Eltham Palace, now cared for by English Heritage, joins a medieval great hall to an art deco house built in the 1930s for Stephen and Virginia Courtauld. The High Street, with its shops and the parish church, is the centre of the district.
Eltham station, on the Southeastern line through Lewisham to London Bridge, is a short walk north of the High Street. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival. Woolwich, with its Elizabeth line station and the Royal Arsenal, is 2 miles north, 15–20 minutes.
The A2 to Kent and the A20 towards Sidcup both pass the edge of Eltham, so long trips start quickly. For a house in one of the residential roads or an entrance at the palace, send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop. A day of visits around Eltham, Greenwich and Blackheath can be booked by the hour, and one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in Eltham
From Eltham the shortest airport run is to London City Airport: 7 miles, 30–40 minutes, over the river from Woolwich. Gatwick is 40 miles south, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes, and Heathrow 27 miles west, 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes, because the route crosses south London. Southend Airport is 37 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes; easyJet has had a base there since March 2025, and it handled 0.72 million passengers in 2025. Stansted Airport is 40 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. On the day you fly in, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Eltham, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: Heathrow takes the longest of the five, and the M25 to Gatwick can slow down near its junctions in the rush hours. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Multi-City Travel from Eltham
Eltham is a good starting point for the Channel and cruise ports. Dover, for ferries to France, is 67 miles down the A2 and M2, 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes. Southampton, the cruise port on the south coast, is 108 miles, 2 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours; cruise terminals can be entered as the pick-up or drop-off point in the booking form.
On the way to Dover, Canterbury is 52 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes, if you want to see the cathedral first. Tunbridge Wells, a spa town on the edge of the High Weald, is 33 miles, 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes.
For a sailing, the car takes you and your luggage from your address to the port in one journey, and the return from the ship is booked separately. A day out to Canterbury and back fits an hourly booking.

Groups & Event Travel in Eltham
A cruise or a ferry crossing can bring an Eltham family group into one vehicle. If three generations are boarding a ship in Southampton with a week's luggage, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats. Tell support about wheelchairs and extra cases so the vehicle is matched to the load.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If relatives join the trip from abroad on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own, to Eltham or straight to the port.
Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early in the summer holidays. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
