Getting Around Caterham
Caterham is a town in the Tandridge district of Surrey, on the North Downs just south of Croydon. It has two halves. Caterham on the Hill is the older hilltop village; Caterham Valley, in a dry valley below, is the main town centre. The A22 passes the town on the Caterham Bypass, and the M25 runs along the north side between Junctions 6 and 7.
On the hill, the former Caterham Barracks was a depot for the Foot Guards regiments from 1877 until it closed in 1995. The site is now a neighbourhood of homes, shops and leisure: The Arc arts centre stands there, and the old Guards chapel houses the Skaterham indoor skate park. Caterham School, an independent day and boarding school, has been on the side of the Harestone Valley since 1884.
Caterham station is the end of the branch line from Purley, with trains to London Bridge. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival. On the hill or in the valley, send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.
Parents comparing schools across Surrey and Kent can see several in one day booked by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in Caterham
Gatwick is 17 miles south of Caterham, 30–40 minutes by car. To the east, London City Airport is 23 miles away, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes; it sits in the Royal Docks, and handled 3.74 million passengers in 2025. Heathrow is 39 miles, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. Southend Airport is 50 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. Stansted Airport is 62 miles, 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Caterham, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: the route to City Airport runs through south-east London, so allow for the rush hour before an early flight from the Docks. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Day-Trip Travel from Caterham
Biggin Hill, with its business-aviation airport, is 8 miles north-east, 30–40 minutes. Epsom, the home of the Derby, is 12 miles west, 40–55 minutes. Windsor and its castle are 38 miles away, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes.
For the coast, Whitstable, a Kent harbour town known for oysters, is 55 miles east, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. Silverstone, the Northamptonshire track that hosts the British Grand Prix, makes a long day: 101 miles, 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes.
Out and back the same day? Keep one car and one chauffeur by the hour. A one-way booking takes you to your address at the far end, and the way back is reserved separately.

Groups & Event Travel in Caterham
Caterham School takes boarders as well as day pupils, so the start and end of each term bring families and pupils to the town with luggage. If several pupils fly into Gatwick or Heathrow on the same day, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load, trunks included.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. For pupils or parents on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own.
Shows at The Arc and at the Miller Centre theatre also bring audiences in the evening. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early for term dates and school holidays. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
