Getting Around Borehamwood
Borehamwood is the most populous town in the borough of Hertsmere, Hertfordshire, about 12 miles from Charing Cross. It was historically part of the parish of Elstree, and the civil parish still carries both names; that is why the studios in the town are known as Elstree. The A1 passes just east of the town, and the M25 runs about two miles to the north.
Screen work defines the place. Elstree Studios on Shenley Road, where Star Wars (1977) and The Shining (1980) were shot, sits in the town centre. The BBC Elstree Centre off Clarendon Road is the home of EastEnders, and Sky Studios Elstree opened in 2022, with its last stage finished in March 2023. For a studio gate or a production office, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.
Elstree & Borehamwood station, in Travelcard Zone 6, has Thameslink trains to London St Pancras. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
A day of castings, recces or meetings that moves between the three studios and an office in central London can be booked by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in Borehamwood
The nearest is Luton Airport, 21 miles north and 40–55 minutes by car. Next, London City Airport lies 26 miles away, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. Heathrow is 29 miles, 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes; it handled 84.5 million passengers in 2025 across Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Stansted Airport is 39 miles, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Borehamwood, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: the run to Heathrow uses the M25, and if the orbital motorway is slow, an early call at the studio and a flight on the same morning need a wider margin. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Day-Trip Travel from Borehamwood
Another studio is close by: Leavesden, with Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, lies 9 miles away, 30–40 minutes. St Albans and its cathedral are 11 miles, 30–40 minutes. Central London is 14 miles, 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes.
Cambridge is 48 miles north-east, 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 5 minutes. For the Sussex coast, Eastbourne is 99 miles, 2 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours.
For a same-day return, reserve by the hour: car and chauffeur remain booked for you through the drive back to Borehamwood. A one-way booking ends at the far address; a second booking brings you back.

Groups & Event Travel in Borehamwood
Film and television bring visiting teams to Borehamwood throughout the year. If an overseas production flies cast and crew into Luton or Heathrow for a shoot at Elstree, the transport can be organised as one job.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If the unit arrives on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own. For a crew that travels together, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load, camera cases and costume rails included.
Once your shooting dates are fixed, reserve the transport. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early for school holidays and the summer. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
