Getting Around Salzgitter
Salzgitter does not work like a town with one centre. It was formed in 1942 from many villages around the new ironworks, and today it covers about 224 km², with 7 local districts and 31 quarters. The town hall and most offices are in Lebenstedt; Salzgitter-Bad, in the south, is the old spa town.
These works sites are the city's large employers. Salzgitter AG produces steel here, Volkswagen has run an engine plant in the city since 1969, MAN builds in the former Büssing works at Watenstedt, Bosch has had a plant here since 1985, and Alstom builds rail vehicles. The works lie in different districts, so the address matters more than the town name.
There is no ICE stop in Salzgitter. Long-distance trains stop at Braunschweig, 21 km away, or Hildesheim, 36 km. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
For an audit day across two plants, book by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop. Name the works gate as well.

Airport Transfers in Salzgitter
Hannover Airport is the nearest large airport: 82 km, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes via the A39, A7 and A2. Kassel Airport is 148 km south-west, 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes, and Bremen Airport 181 km, 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
At Hannover the terminals stand side by side, and the airport's train station lies between Terminal B and Terminal C. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Salzgitter, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes to the Hannover terminals in normal traffic, more if you leave from a plant when a shift ends and the access roads fill. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Multi-City Travel from Salzgitter
The A39 ties Salzgitter to its neighbours. Braunschweig is 21 km north, 30–40 minutes, and the seat of the PTB, Germany's national metrology institute. Wolfsburg is 49 km, 45 minutes to 1 hour, which puts a supplier visit at Volkswagen's main plant within easy reach; by the company's own account it is the biggest connected car factory on earth. Hildesheim is 36 km west, 40–55 minutes, and its cathedral and Michaeliskirche stand on the UNESCO World Heritage List (1985). Hanover is 65 km away via the A7, 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes.
Berlin is 247 km away via the A2 and A10, 2 hours 40 minutes to 3 hours 35 minutes. A team that has finished an inspection in Salzgitter and has an appointment in Berlin the next morning can make the drive in the evening with its tools and documents in the car. In January the Internationale Grüne Woche is held there, from 15 to 24 January 2027.
Each drive from a plant or hotel in Salzgitter to an address in another city is one booking; if the day covers several sites, book by the hour instead.

Groups & Event Travel in Salzgitter
Groups that come to Salzgitter for work include a supplier team at the engine plant, auditors visiting the steelworks, a customer delegation inspecting rail vehicles before delivery. Such a group may need one car from the hotel in the morning and another run at the end of the shift, and the hotel may be in Braunschweig rather than in Salzgitter itself.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If the team flies in on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own from Hannover Airport. For a crew moving between sites together, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.
In April, when HANNOVER MESSE is held 55 km away, cars across the region are in demand. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early in that week. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
