Getting Around Rochester
Rochester is the historic city of the Medway towns in Kent, on the east bank of the River Medway. Its Norman castle and its cathedral stand side by side above the river, and the High Street keeps strong links with Charles Dickens, who lived nearby and set scenes of his novels here.
Rochester station has Southeastern high-speed trains to St Pancras as well as mainline trains to Victoria and London Bridge. It is about a five-minute walk from the castle gardens. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival. The M2 runs just south of the city.
For an address in the old centre around the castle and cathedral, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go. For a day that takes in the cathedral, lunch on the High Street and the Historic Dockyard, about 4 miles away, 20–30 minutes, book by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers in Rochester
London City Airport is 28 miles from Rochester, 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes. London Southend Airport is 40 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, and Gatwick 48 miles, also 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. Stansted Airport is 52 miles, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes; it handled 29.76 million passengers in 2025. Heathrow is 70 miles, 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For a visitor coming to see the city, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Rochester, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: Gatwick, Stansted and Southend sit within a few minutes of each other in driving time, so choose by flight rather than by distance. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Day-Trip Travel from Rochester
Chatham, next door along the river, is 1 mile, 10–15 minutes. Maidstone, the county town, is 9 miles, 25–35 minutes.
Whitstable, the harbour town on the north Kent coast, is 31 miles, 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes. Dover, with its castle above the cliffs and the ferry port, is 48 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes.
For a day that links two cathedral cities, Winchester in Hampshire is 97 miles, 2 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes. On a long run like this, a car leaves at the hour you choose and brings you back to Rochester the same evening if you book the return.

Groups & Event Travel in Rochester
Rochester's own festivals are the main reason groups come. The Dickensian Christmas Festival fills the High Street in December, and the Christmas market and a funfair run in the castle gardens the same weekend. Visiting coaches have to pre-book parking for the festival, and some departure slots fill up well before the day.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If members of a society or a family party fly in on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own. For a party travelling as one, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.
Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early for festival weekends. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
