Getting Around Penshurst
Penshurst is a village in Sevenoaks District, Kent, where the River Eden joins the Medway. At its heart is Penshurst Place, a medieval manor house with walled gardens; the Sidney family has lived there since 1552, and its Baron's Hall dates from the 1340s.
Penshurst station is not in the village but at Chiddingstone Causeway, about 2 miles north, 10–15 minutes by car, on the Redhill–Tonbridge line. Tonbridge station, with trains to London Charing Cross, is the other option. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
For a farmhouse or a holiday let outside the village, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go. A day that begins at Penshurst Place and goes on to Chiddingstone and Hever Castle fits one hourly booking: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.

Airport Transfers to Penshurst
Gatwick is the nearest airport to Penshurst: 20 miles, 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes. London City Airport is 36 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. Heathrow is 53 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes; it handled 84.5 million passengers in 2025 across Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. London Southend Airport is 51 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, and Stansted Airport 63 miles, 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For an overseas visitor heading for the house and gardens, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pick-up to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Penshurst, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: only the Gatwick run can take under an hour, so leave a wider margin for any other airport. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
