Getting Around Remscheid
Remscheid is a hill town in the Bergisches Land, and its districts lie some distance apart. Lennep, 6 km from the centre and 15–20 minutes by car, is where Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, the discoverer of X-rays, was born in 1845. The Deutsches Röntgen-Museum, opened in 1932 at the edge of Lennep's old town, is the only museum in the world devoted to him and his discovery.
Remscheid is also an industrial town. The Vaillant Group, the family-owned heating and ventilation company founded in 1874, runs its national and international business from its head office on Berghauser Straße.
Schloss Burg is 9 km away, 20–25 minutes, and the Müngstener Brücke, Germany's highest railway bridge, links Remscheid with Solingen across the Wupper valley. Wuppertal is 18 km away on the A1.
For a day split between a factory visit and a meeting in Wuppertal, book by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers in Remscheid
Three airports are within about an hour of Remscheid. Düsseldorf Airport is 49 km, 45 minutes to 1 hour. Cologne Bonn Airport is 50 km, 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes, on the A1 and A3. Dortmund Airport is 62 km, 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes, almost entirely on the A1. Düsseldorf's single terminal has three piers, A, B and C; Cologne Bonn has two terminals and an ICE station of its own; Dortmund has one passenger terminal. The right one depends on your airline and route.
The A1 is the town's main link to two of the three, so the motorway, not the distance, sets the time on the road. Journey times vary with traffic and weather.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Remscheid, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 45 minutes to 1 hour to Düsseldorf and 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes to Cologne Bonn in normal traffic. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Cross-Border Travel from Remscheid
The A1 runs past Remscheid north to the Ruhr and south to Cologne. Dortmund is 58 km, 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes; Hagen is 40 km, 40–55 minutes; Leverkusen is 33 km, 40–55 minutes. Frankfurt is 223 km away, 2 hours 25 minutes to 3 hours 15 minutes, and Hanover 256 km, 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 45 minutes.
For trips abroad, Maastricht is 140 km, 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes, Liège 158 km, 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes, Brussels 246 km, 2 hours 40 minutes to 3 hours 35 minutes, and Amsterdam 254 km, 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 45 minutes. A visit to a distributor in Maastricht or a meeting in Brussels is booked as one journey, with the same chauffeur and car from start to finish, with no change of vehicle at the border.
Germany has notified the European Commission of temporary checks at its internal land borders, so allow for a possible check when you come back from the Netherlands or Belgium. Carry the travel documents your nationality and itinerary require.

Groups & Event Travel in Remscheid
A group may come to Remscheid for the Röntgen museum in Lennep, for the industry, or for the Wupper valley with the Müngstener Brücke and Schloss Burg close by. A day like that covers three or four places a few kilometres apart on hilly roads, so it helps if everyone travels in one vehicle.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If participants arrive on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own, from any of the three airports. For a group on one timetable, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.
For fair weeks in Cologne, Düsseldorf and Essen, when hotels across the region can fill up, book early. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early in those weeks. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
