Getting Around Sankt Augustin
Sankt Augustin is a town of research institutes between Bonn and Siegburg. The main campus of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences is here, with more than 6,500 students. On the eastern edge, the Fraunhofer Institute Center Schloss Birlinghoven is one of Germany's largest centres for computer science research, with about 600 scientists in three institutes and one research institution. The archive of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation is also here.
Stadtbahn line 66 links Bonn, Sankt Augustin and Siegburg, serving the town centre, the university and Hangelar. The ICE station is next door: Siegburg/Bonn, on the fast ICE route from Cologne to the Rhine-Main area, is 3 km away, 10–15 minutes. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
If your visit to Birlinghoven or the campus is followed by an appointment in Bonn, 9 km away, 20–25 minutes, reserve the day by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers in Sankt Augustin
Cologne Bonn Airport is 21 km north, 30–40 minutes by car on the A560 and A59. Two passenger terminals belong to the airport, and its own railway station, underground in front of Terminals 1 and 2, also has ICE services. Düsseldorf Airport is 80 km, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, and Dortmund Airport 120 km, 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours. The right one depends on your airline and route.
If you fly into Frankfurt and continue by ICE to Siegburg/Bonn, book the short transfer from the station with the train and its arrival time, and the car is there for the train rather than for the flight.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Sankt Augustin, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 30–40 minutes to Cologne Bonn on a normal day, longer when the A59 is busy at rush hour. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Cross-Border Travel from Sankt Augustin
The A3 runs just east of town, so long trips start quickly. Frankfurt is 163 km south, 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes, and Cologne 32 km north, 40–55 minutes, where the Koelnmesse exhibition grounds in Deutz lie next to the Köln Messe/Deutz ICE station. Düsseldorf is 70 km, 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes, and Essen 92 km, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes. A research team visiting partners in several cities can travel from institute to institute with its equipment cases in the same car.
Luxembourg, seat of several EU institutions, is 215 km away, 2 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours 10 minutes, and Maastricht 134 km, 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes. Such a trip is booked as one journey, with the same chauffeur and car from start to finish, with no change of vehicle at the border.
Germany has notified the European Commission of temporary checks at its internal land borders, so expect a possible check when you return. Carry the travel documents your nationality and itinerary require.

Groups & Event Travel in Sankt Augustin
A group in Sankt Augustin may be academic or professional: a delegation visiting the Fraunhofer centre, examiners and guest lecturers at the university, a project consortium meeting for two days. Bonn's conference season reaches the town as well. When the UN climate sessions fill the World Conference Center in June, hotels here, 9 km away, are an option for some of the guests.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If guests land on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own. For a delegation moving between hotel and institute together, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.
For June, and for any week with a large conference in Bonn, book once the dates are fixed. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early then. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
