Getting Around Rostock
Rostock has two faces on the water. The old Hanseatic city lies on the Warnow, with its Stadthafen beside the centre, and Warnemünde, the seaside district where the river meets the Baltic, has the passenger quay where cruise ships berth. A guest may need both on the same day: a meeting in town and an embarkation or a hotel by the beach. In the centre, the Kröpeliner Straße, the main pedestrian street, runs from the Neuer Markt to the Kröpeliner Tor, and the University of Rostock dates from 1419 and is the Baltic region's oldest.
Ferries for Denmark and Sweden leave from the Überseehafen, the overseas port, so a ferry passenger's address is different again. Give the terminal or the quay with your booking.
If you arrive in Rostock by train, add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival. For a day split between offices in the city and appointments in Warnemünde, book by the hour: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers in Rostock
Rostock–Laage Airport is 32 km south of the city, 40–55 minutes by car; it has a single passenger terminal and shares its runway with an air force fighter wing. Lübeck Airport is 117 km west, 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes. Hamburg Airport, 188 km away, takes 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes and is served by far more airlines, which can matter for cruise passengers flying in from abroad. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Rostock, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 40–55 minutes to Rostock–Laage, and 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes to Hamburg Airport, where the A20 and the roads around Hamburg can add more. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Cross-Border Travel from Rostock
Ferries from Rostock cross to Gedser in Denmark and to Trelleborg in Sweden. A car to the ferry terminal, from Rostock–Laage, Hamburg Airport or your hotel, is one transfer; name the operator and the sailing time when you book.
By road, Szczecin in Poland is 250 km east, 2 hours 40 minutes to 3 hours 35 minutes, booked with the same chauffeur and car from start to finish, with no change of vehicle at the border. Binz on the island of Rügen, a seaside resort, is 149 km, 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes; Schwerin 91 km, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes, whose castle on an island in the lake became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2024; Berlin 229 km, 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 25 minutes.
Germany has notified the European Commission of temporary checks at its internal land borders, including the border with Poland. Denmark and Sweden have notified checks of their own, so check the current rules before you take a ferry. Carry the travel documents your nationality and itinerary require.

Groups & Cruise Travel in Rostock
Cruise ships set the rhythm in Warnemünde: for 2026, 20 cruise lines registered 162 calls at Rostock. On a call day, a shore party may want Rostock, Schwerin or even Berlin, and passengers ending their cruise need a ride to an airport. Each August, the Hanse Sail brings more than 100 traditional and museum ships to the Stadthafen and Warnemünde, and hundreds of thousands of visitors with them; it returns in August 2027.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If guests reach the coast on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own. For a shore party that stays together, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.
For Hanse Sail and the peak cruise months, book once your dates are known. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early in August and on busy call days. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
