Getting Around Schwerin
Schwerin is the capital of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and its best-known building is also its parliament. The castle stands on an island in Lake Schwerin, and since 1990 it has again housed the state parliament, the Landtag. In 2024 the castle and the buildings around it were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List as the Schwerin Residence Ensemble. With just under 100,000 residents, Schwerin is the smallest state capital in Germany, and its cathedral dates from 1260 to 1416 and the Mecklenburg State Theatre from 1886.
For a visitor on official business, the day may run between the Landtag, state ministries and offices in the town. With an hourly booking, one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve, which suits a programme of several appointments.
If you come to Schwerin by train, add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
The castle island and the old town are compact, and the car may not be able to stop right at every door. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers in Schwerin
Schwerin does not have its own airport; there are three to choose from. Lübeck Airport is the closest, 75 km west, 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes. Rostock–Laage is 107 km north-east, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes, and Hamburg Airport 115 km, 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes, with the widest choice of flights. Hamburg Airport has two terminals joined by the Airport Plaza, with an S-Bahn station beneath it, and from Lübeck Airport, Ryanair flies in 2026 to London Stansted, Palma and Málaga. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Schwerin, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes to Hamburg Airport on a good run, longer when the A24 and the Hamburg approach are busy. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Multi-City Travel from Schwerin
Three places on the Baltic coast are each a little over an hour away. Lübeck is 84 km west, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, with a UNESCO World Heritage old town since 1987 and the Holstentor, built from 1464 to 1478; Rostock is 89 km north-east, 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes, where the university, founded in 1419, is the oldest in the Baltic region, and the pedestrian Kröpeliner Straße runs from Neuer Markt to the Kröpeliner Tor; and Warnemünde, Rostock's cruise port, is 98 km, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. Its cruise terminal is about 450 m from Warnemünde station, and the S-Bahn from Rostock Hauptbahnhof takes about 20 minutes.
Hamburg is 110 km, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes, with the Hafengeburtstag in the harbour from 6 to 9 May 2027, and Berlin 213 km south-east, 2 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours 10 minutes, where the Berlinale runs from 10 to 21 February 2027 and Messe Berlin has 160,000 m² of hall space. For a delegation travelling between the state capital and the federal capital, the whole route is one booking, and papers and luggage stay with you in the car.

Groups & Event Travel in Schwerin
Since the UNESCO listing in 2024, the castle and the Residence Ensemble are a destination for heritage groups, and official delegations come to the Landtag in the same building. Schwerin is also within reach of the coast: a shore party from a cruise ship in Warnemünde, 98 km away, can spend the day here, and the Hanse Sail fills Rostock every August.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If delegates fly in on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own, from Hamburg, Lübeck or Rostock–Laage. For a group that tours together, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.
Plan ahead for summer, when cruise calls and the Hanse Sail keep cars on the coast busy. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early in those months. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
