Getting Around Klagenfurt
Since December 2025 the Koralmbahn has changed how Klagenfurt is reached: the fastest trains put Graz 41 minutes away, with 29 connections a day, and Vienna at about three hours ten. For a company with people in both Styrian and Carinthian offices, a morning meeting in Klagenfurt and lunch in Graz is now an ordinary day. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
A key business destination lies outside the centre. The Lakeside Science & Technology Park, on the western edge of town beside the university and the lake, houses more than 70 companies and research institutes on some 40,000 square metres, with around 1,800 people working there. A visit usually pairs a morning at Lakeside with a meeting at the Landhaus or a hotel in town, a drive of 4 km each way.
The rest of the city's life is along the Wörthersee: hotels and restaurants in Pörtschach and Velden, 12 and 23 km west along the shore, with the airport 4 km the other way. A summer evening at the lake, or a day that starts at a lakeside hotel and ends at Lakeside Park, is where hourly service earns its place: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve.
The centre around the Alter Platz is pedestrian. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers in Klagenfurt
Klagenfurt Airport is 4 km from the centre, 10 to 15 minutes. It connects to the Vienna hub, and AIRail trains link Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof with Vienna Airport, so for anything beyond that the question is the alternatives. Ljubljana Airport is about 110 km south through the Karawanken Tunnel on the A11; Graz Airport is about 130 km east on the A2; the fastest trains reach Graz in 41 minutes, with the airport a further leg. Vienna is about 330 km.
Which one you use depends on the flight, not on the map. Of the alternatives, Ljubljana is the closest; Graz has the Lufthansa Group connections to Frankfurt and Munich. Both are booked from Klagenfurt as one journey, and the Ljubljana run is a cross-border transfer with one chauffeur for the whole route.
Book with your flight number. At Klagenfurt your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For Ljubljana or Graz, the useful thing to know is the drive: around an hour and a half through the Karawanken Tunnel, around an hour and three quarters over the Pack. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Cross-Border Travel from Klagenfurt
Klagenfurt is a convenient starting point for Slovenia and Italy. Ljubljana is about 125 km south through the Karawanken Tunnel; Udine about 160 km through Villach and the Kanal valley, Trieste about 230 km, Venice about 285 km. Inside Austria the runs are Villach, about 40 km along the lake, Graz about 135 km over the Pack, and Salzburg about 215 km north through the Tauern Tunnel.
Cross-border trips from Klagenfurt include the everyday ones. A Carinthian company with a plant in Slovenia, a client landing at Ljubljana, a weekend in Trieste after a week at Lakeside: each is one booking from Klagenfurt to the address on the other side, driven all the way by the same chauffeur in the same car.
Slovenia and Italy are both in the Schengen area, but Austria has kept checks at the Slovenian border for years, renewed a few months at a time, and Italy has also run checks at its border with Slovenia. Carry the travel documents your nationality and itinerary require.

Groups & Congress Travel in Klagenfurt
Klagenfurt's largest sporting arrival is IRONMAN Austria, which brings around 3,000 athletes and their supporters to the Wörthersee every June. Athletes travel with bike boxes, which need to be considered when choosing a vehicle. The trade-fair calendar peaks with the Herbstmesse in September, and the business groups the rest of the year are Lakeside Park visitors and Carinthian company programmes.
Whoever is organising can set the programme up in one account, with each journey confirmed on its own: a team collected at Ljubljana Airport, a delegation off the Koralmbahn train from Graz, a client at the Landhaus. Where the group travels together, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; with bike boxes, give their number and size when you book, and the vehicle is chosen to fit them.
Book early for the IRONMAN week in June and the Herbstmesse in September, when local vehicles and drivers are in short supply. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
