Getting Around Munster
Münster, a city of about 306,000 people, is shaped by its university. The University of Münster had 41,217 students in the winter semester 2025/26 and about 7,800 staff, and its central address is the Schloss, the former prince-bishop's palace. For a visit to a faculty, give the address of its own building.
The historic centre has a second focus: the Prinzipalmarkt, the main shopping street, with the Gothic city hall where part of the Peace of Westphalia was signed in 1648. Around the old town runs the Promenade, a green ring closed to cars and full of cyclists; in Münster bicycles have overtaken cars as a means of transport.
Münster has no tram or underground. If you arrive by rail, add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
For a day with a faculty meeting at the Schloss, lunch on the Prinzipalmarkt and a visit to a partner in Osnabrück, booked by the hour, one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers in Munster
Münster/Osnabrück Airport is at Greven, 26 km north of the city, 40–55 minutes by car. Lufthansa connects it with Munich for onward flights, and Condor and Eurowings fly to holiday destinations such as Mallorca, Antalya and the Canary Islands. Dortmund Airport is 58 km south, 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes, with Eurowings and Wizz Air. For long-haul flights, Düsseldorf Airport is 119 km, 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes. Düsseldorf Airport has a long-distance railway station of its own, and Münster/Osnabrück counted about 1.25 million passengers in 2025. The right one depends on your airline and route.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Munster, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: under an hour to Greven, close to two hours to Düsseldorf. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Cross-Border Travel from Munster
Osnabrück is 57 km north on the A1, 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes, and Hamm 50 km to the south-east. Bremen is 170 km away, 1 hour 55 minutes to 2 hours 35 minutes. Osnabrück, the other city of the Peace of Westphalia, has about 28,000 students and a tower station of 1895 on two levels; the OsnabrückHalle next to the Schlossgarten holds up to 3,900 people. Hamm hosts Germany's largest higher regional court. Dortmund is 69 km south, 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes; Signal Iduna Park holds 81,365 spectators, and the Westfalenhallen are adding two halls and a congress centre.
Amsterdam is 225 km west, 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 25 minutes; an appointment there and the return leg fit into one long day. The journey is booked like a domestic one, with the same chauffeur and car from start to finish, with no change of vehicle at the border.
Germany has notified the European Commission of temporary checks at its internal land borders; you may be checked when re-entering Germany. Carry the travel documents your nationality and itinerary require.

Groups & Congress Travel in Munster
Congresses and fairs in Münster are held at the Messe und Congress Centrum Halle Münsterland, with about 20,000 m² of exhibition space; its largest hall takes up to 11,000 people. Academic congresses at the university add delegates who arrive on different flights and trains and stay for two or three days.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If delegates come on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own. For a group moving between the Halle Münsterland and a hotel, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.
Three times a year, in spring, in summer and in autumn, the Send fair fills the Schlossplatz in front of the palace, and roads around it are busy. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early in those weeks. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
