Getting Around Sestriere
Sestriere is one of the villages of the Via Lattea, a ski area of about 400 km of pistes that links Sauze d'Oulx, San Sicario, Claviere and Cesana with Montgenèvre on the French side. On skis the villages are connected; after the lifts close they are separate places on separate roads, and that is when a car is useful.
The nearest mainline station is Oulx-Cesana-Claviere-Sestriere, 21 km away on the Fréjus line, where some Frecciarossa and TGV trains between Italy and France call. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
Cesana Torinese is 12 km down the road and Sauze d'Oulx 25 km. Booked by the hour, one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve, whether the evening is in your own village or in the next one.
Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers to Sestriere
Turin Airport is the practical choice: 110 km, about 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes, on the motorways west of the city and then the SS24 and SP23 up from the Susa valley. Milan Malpensa is 231 km, about 2 hours 50 minutes to 3 hours 50 minutes, useful when your flight only goes there. Nice Côte d'Azur is 239 km, but the road runs through France and takes about 4 hours 35 minutes to 6 hours 10 minutes, so it is the long option.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. The motorway part is quick; the climb from Oulx and Cesana is where winter conditions decide the pace.
For arrivals, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Sestriere, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes to Turin Airport, 2 hours 50 minutes to 3 hours 50 minutes to Malpensa, longer after snowfall. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Cross-Border Travel from Sestriere
Turin is 101 km from Sestriere, and a few days in the city after the ski week is a single booking from one hotel to the other. Milan is 238 km away on the A4 for a stay that ends there, and Bardonecchia, 34 km, if you are changing resort within the valley.
France is close: Briançon is 33 km away over the Montgenèvre pass, and the trip runs with the same chauffeur and car from start to finish, with no change of vehicle at the border.
France has notified the European Commission of checks at its internal borders, the Italian border included. Carry the travel documents your nationality and itinerary require.

Groups, Equipment & Winter Road Travel in Sestriere
Ski clubs and school groups arrive with boards, race skis and boot bags, and those decide the vehicle as much as the passenger list. Send the equipment list with the booking and the vehicle is matched to the load. A Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats. Where members travel on different flights or trains, every arrival gets a transfer of its own.
The Città metropolitana di Torino, which runs the provincial roads here, makes winter tyres or snow chains carried in the vehicle compulsory on signed routes from 15 November to 15 April. On some higher sections in the Susa and Chisone valleys the period is longer, from 1 November to 30 April.
Book early for the ski season: local vehicles and drivers are booked up early. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
