Turin Airport to Sestriere: Route and Drive Time
Sestriere is 110 km from Turin Airport. The car follows the Turin ring road, the A55, west to the A32 and climbs the Susa valley on the motorway as far as Oulx. From there the SS24 leads to Cesana Torinese, and the SP23 climbs the last kilometres to the resort. The whole drive usually takes 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes.
The motorway part is fast and predictable. The mountain section after Oulx sets the pace: it is shorter in distance but slower, and in winter snow and traffic on the ski weekends make the difference between the two ends of the range.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Give the name of your hotel or the chalet address with your flight number, since several accommodation areas in Sestriere and the villages below are reached by different roads.
Meeting Your Chauffeur at Turin Airport
Caselle is compact. Its one terminal handles arrivals at ground level, where the belts are, and arriving passengers all use a single exit. Ski bags usually arrive at the oversize belt, so allow for that when you judge how soon you will reach the exit.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. For a winter charter that lands late on a Saturday, the car is tied to that landing, not to the schedule.
In winter a large share of Caselle's arrivals are ski groups heading for the Susa and Chisone valleys, and the roads out are the same for all of them. Booking before you travel means the vehicle and its luggage space are fixed before you land.
Arriving at Your Hotel in Sestriere
Sestriere belongs to the Via Lattea, the lift-linked ski area it shares with Sauze d'Oulx, San Sicario, Claviere, Cesana and Montgenèvre. Hotels and apartment buildings sit around the central square and along the roads that lead out of the village to the lifts; chalets are often on side roads.
For a chalet or an apartment block with its own garage or access road, send the full address and any access details from the owner. If you are staying lower down, in Cesana or Sauze d'Oulx, the drive from the airport is shorter, as the car leaves the valley road earlier.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. Travelling partly by rail? Oulx-Cesana-Claviere-Sestriere, on the main line 21 km from the resort, is the station to name.
From Sestriere Back to Turin Airport
Leaving Sestriere, the useful thing to know is how long the road takes, not when to leave: 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes to Turin Airport, longer in heavy traffic. The pickup time you choose is confirmed with the reservation.
The descent to Cesana and Oulx is the slow part of the return, especially after fresh snow or on a changeover day when many cars leave the Via Lattea at once. Set the pickup with that descent in mind; Caselle has one terminal, so the only decision is the time.
If the ski week ends with a few days in Turin, the city is 101 km from Sestriere, and the drop-off can be a city hotel rather than the terminal. A later transfer takes you to Caselle, 17 km from the centre.
