Getting Around Nerja
Nerja gathers around the Balcón de Europa, a clifftop viewpoint at the end of the old town, with small coves below it on either side: Calahonda to one side and La Caletilla to the other. The Balcón is a promenade above the sea, and the old streets leading to it are narrow.
The town has no railway. The nearest mainline station is María Zambrano in Málaga, about 60 km west, where the AVE and other long-distance trains arrive, and from there the rest of the trip is by road. Include your train details and arrival time when booking so we can arrange your pickup at the station.
Several days out are close by. The Cueva de Nerja, a cave system more than 4.8 km long that drew a record 530,782 visitors in 2024, is at Maro, about 5 km east. Frigiliana, a white village about 320 m up with a Moorish-era quarter of steep lanes, is about 7 km inland by road. For a dinner in Frigiliana, a transfer there and another back can be booked at the times you choose.
Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers to Nerja
Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport is about 65 km from Nerja, and the transfer takes 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes. It is the airport for this end of the coast: every other option means a much longer drive.
The road is the A-7, the motorway that runs east along the coast from Málaga. From the terminal it passes Málaga before it reaches the Axarquía. Journey times vary with traffic and the time of day.
Book with your flight number: your chauffeur monitors your flight and adjusts the pickup if your arrival time changes. Your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. Leaving Nerja, allow for the drive to the airport when choosing your pickup time: 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes to AGP, longer in the summer season. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Multi-City Travel from Nerja
Some stays in Nerja end in a city. Málaga, about 57 km west, is a city break of a few nights before the flight home; Granada, about 95 km north-east, is the other choice, a drive of between 1 hour 15 minutes and 1 hour 40 minutes. With suitcases for the whole holiday, either move is one booking from your hotel in Nerja to the next one.
Nerja is off the rail network, so there is no train from the town to Málaga or Granada. A car covers either route in one run, without a change on the way.
Travelling home by rail means a drive to Málaga first: the car takes you from Nerja to the AVE at María Zambrano at the pickup time you set.

Groups, Luggage & Summer Travel in Nerja
Guests here include families, couples and friends sharing a villa. For a party arriving on one flight, what counts is the suitcases, child seats and walking gear, not only the number of people, so tell us what you are bringing and the vehicle is matched to the load. A Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats. If the group arrives on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own.
Summer is the peak. The cave alone received 197,938 visitors in June, July and August 2025, about 2,200 a day. In October the town holds its Feria, in honour of its patron saints.
The dates to book early are July and August and the Feria week in October. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early for those dates. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
