Getting Around Trier
Trier is often called Germany's oldest city, and its Roman buildings, among them the Porta Nigra, the old north gate, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Porta Nigra marks the northern end of the old town; from there the way leads to the Hauptmarkt and on to the cathedral, so hotels and offices in this part of town sit among the monuments.
Trier also lives closely with Luxembourg. The city's statistics office counted 7,037 Trier residents working in Luxembourg in 2015, about one in ten of the city's working people. For a guest, that means a meeting in Luxembourg can be part of an ordinary day in Trier.
Regional trains connect Trier with Saarbrücken in 60–90 minutes, and from Saarbrücken there are ICE and TGV services. Add the train and its arrival time to the booking, and the car is scheduled for that arrival.
For a day split between an office in Trier and appointments across the border, booked by the hour, one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve. Send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers in Trier
The nearest airport to Trier is in another country: Luxembourg Airport is 41 km away, 45 minutes to 1 hour by car, and it is not linked to the German rail network, so the road is the direct way. Frankfurt-Hahn is 75 km east, 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes, and Saarbrücken Airport 101 km south, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. The right one depends on your airline and route.
On the run to Luxembourg the motorway crosses the border, so a car from Trier to the terminal is one booking with no change at the frontier.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. For a departure from Trier, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: 45 minutes to 1 hour to Luxembourg Airport on a clear road, longer at commuter times. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Cross-Border Travel from Trier
Three countries are close to Trier. Luxembourg city is 49 km away, 45 minutes to 1 hour. Metz, in France, is 110 km south, 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes; the Congrès Robert Schuman at its TGV station exit opened in September 2018. Brussels, with the EU institutions, is 267 km, 2 hours 50 minutes to 3 hours 50 minutes. A trip abroad is booked like a domestic one: the same chauffeur and car from start to finish, with no change of vehicle at the border.
Inside Germany, Saarbrücken is 95 km away, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes; Cologne is 170 km, 1 hour 55 minutes to 2 hours 35 minutes, and the Koelnmesse in Deutz has 284,000 m² of hall space; Frankfurt is 194 km, 2 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 55 minutes, and the Frankfurt Book Fair takes place there from 6 to 10 October 2027.
Germany has notified the European Commission of temporary checks at its internal land borders, and France has notified the European Commission of checks at its internal borders. Carry the travel documents your nationality and itinerary require.

Groups & Event Travel in Trier
Trier's Christmas market fills the Hauptmarkt and the Domfreihof in front of the cathedral with around 100 stalls; in 2026 it runs from 20 November to 22 December. The market stands inside the pedestrian centre. A coach party visiting for a day, or a group combining Trier with Luxembourg, needs its arrivals and departures planned around those weeks.
When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. If the group lands on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own, from Luxembourg, Hahn or Saarbrücken. For guests travelling as one party, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats; the vehicle is matched to the load.
Book early for the Advent weeks. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early in that season. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
