Getting Around Banff
Banff is a small mountain town inside Banff National Park, and park rules shape every trip here. Driving through on the Trans-Canada Highway without stopping needs no park pass, but you need one as soon as you pull over anywhere in the park, including the Town of Banff and Lake Louise. A Parks Canada Family/Group pass covers up to seven people arriving in one vehicle, which suits a family or a small team sharing one car.
On the slope of Tunnel Mountain above the town, the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity runs conferences in more than 60 meeting spaces, for groups of five up to 700. If you are attending a program there and staying in Canmore, 27 km down the valley and just outside the park, the drive is 30–40 minutes each way.
For a day that takes in a meeting at the Banff Centre, lunch in town and an afternoon at Lake Louise, book hourly chauffeur service: one chauffeur and one vehicle stay with you for the time you reserve. Hotels and lodges in Banff range from Banff Avenue to the hillsides around it: send the full address with your booking; the confirmation then tells you where the car will stop.

Airport Transfers to Banff
Banff has no airport of its own. The nearest is Calgary International Airport, 136 km away on the Trans-Canada Highway, usually 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes by car. Calgary has a Domestic Terminal and an International Terminal; US flights leave from the International Terminal. With US preclearance, you clear US customs before boarding a flight to the US.
Book with your flight number. For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. After a long-haul flight, a car straight to your hotel in Banff means no change at a bus terminal and no luggage to haul between vehicles, which counts with skis, boots and children.
For a departure from Banff, what counts is the length of the drive, not the time on the clock: allow at least 1 hour 35 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes to the terminal, and more on a snowy winter day or a summer weekend. Journey times vary with traffic and weather. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Multi-City Travel from Banff
Lake Louise is 58 km west, 45 minutes to 1 hour. Parks Canada does not recommend arriving there in a personal vehicle in summer, because the lakeshore lot often fills before sunrise. At the Lake Louise lakeshore, commercial vehicles may only stop for up to 10 minutes to drop off or pick up passengers.
Moraine Lake Road is closed to personal vehicles all year. Only Parks Canada shuttles, licensed commercial vehicles that seat 11 or more and guests of Moraine Lake Lodge may use it, so a sedan, SUV or limousine cannot drive you to the lake. In season, the usual way is a Parks Canada shuttle from the Lake Louise Park and Ride, which runs from June to mid-October.
Jasper is 289 km north along the Icefields Parkway, 3 hours 45 minutes to 5 hours 5 minutes; the parkway is one of the roads where a park pass is needed even if you do not stop. Calgary is 129 km east, 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours, and Drumheller is 264 km, 2 hours 50 minutes to 3 hours 50 minutes.

Groups, Ski Equipment & Winter Travel in Banff
Banff has three ski areas within reach, Banff Sunshine, Lake Louise and Mt Norquay, and the season opens in November, weather permitting. For the 2026–27 season, Lake Louise adds Richardson's Ridge, with 200 acres of terrain and a new high-speed quad.
Enter the number of bags in the booking form; for skis, golf bags or other bulky items, tell support so the vehicle is matched to the load. For a group travelling together, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats. When you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation, and if a ski club or a conference group lands on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own.
If your trip falls in a holiday week of the ski season, book early: local vehicles and drivers are booked up early for those dates. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
