Airport Transfers from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Wimbledon

Trusted by professionals at
One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 3 to a hotel near Wimbledon station, Terminal 5 to a family home beside the Common, or a flat by Wimbledon Park to Terminal 2 for a flight after dinner. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: from your Heathrow terminal to a rented house in Wimbledon Village at the start of the tennis, and back out to the airport after the finals weekend. In late June and early July, cars in SW19 are claimed well ahead of the tournament. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LHR, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Heathrow Airport to Wimbledon: Route and Drive Time

Heathrow lies at the far west of the capital on the north side of the Thames, while Wimbledon belongs to Merton, in the south-west of the capital. The ride from the terminals to Wimbledon town centre is 17 miles, normally 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes. It does not go through central London: the car heads south-east across the outer suburbs and crosses the river on the way.

Which part of Wimbledon you are going to shapes the last stretch. The town centre and the station lie at the foot of the hill, with the New Wimbledon Theatre on the Broadway. Wimbledon Village and the Common are up the hill to the west, and the All England Club sits on Church Road, by Wimbledon Park. AFC Wimbledon's ground at Plough Lane is a different approach again.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Name your landing terminal and the full SW19 address, postcode included, in the booking.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Heathrow Airport

Four Heathrow terminals are in use, 2, 3, 4 and 5, and the airline decides which one is yours. Visitors coming from North America for the tennis may land at Terminal 3, home to Virgin Atlantic, Delta and American Airlines, or at Terminal 5 with British Airways. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.

Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. At Terminals 2, 3 and 5, the terminal car park is about a two-minute walk from the doors.

Once you are in the air, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules. Passport queues in the tennis season do not change that: SW19 can wait while you clear the hall.

Arriving at Your Address in Wimbledon

Wimbledon has several centres. Around the station are the shops of the Broadway and the offices of the town; the Village on the hill has its own high street, restaurants and large houses facing the Common; Wimbledon Park lies to the north-east, beside the tennis grounds.

During the tournament, temporary traffic measures go up on the streets next to the tennis grounds. If your rented house or hotel is near Church Road or in the Village during the tournament, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.

Outside those two weeks, the drop-off is simpler. A flat near the station, a guest house off the Broadway or a family home near the Common are all reached directly from the main roads.

From Wimbledon Back to London Heathrow Airport

Work backwards from your departure time: the ride from SW19 to the Heathrow terminals lasts 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes when traffic is normal. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Which terminal you fly from changes the end of the ride: Terminal 5 lies furthest west, Terminal 4 to the south, and Terminals 2 and 3 between them. Add yours to the reservation.

The 2027 tennis fortnight at the All England Club is 28 June to 11 July. Throughout it, a departure from the Village or from a house close to the grounds needs extra margin, because traffic around Church Road builds up before and after play.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How far is Wimbledon from Heathrow Airport?

Wimbledon town centre is 17 miles, normally 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes, from the terminals by car. The route avoids central London and crosses the Thames on its way south-east.

My flight lands at Heathrow earlier than planned. Will the car be there?

Yes. The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, so an early or a late landing moves the pick-up with it. Enter the flight number when you book.

I have landed at Heathrow for the tennis. Where is the car?

In the car park of whichever terminal, 2, 3, 4 or 5, your flight used. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Is Heathrow or Gatwick better for Wimbledon?

By time they are close. Heathrow is 17 miles, 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes; Gatwick is 26 miles, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. The choice usually comes down to your airline and where it flies from.

Twenty of us are coming for Wimbledon hospitality. What do we book?

A coach takes the whole party, with up to 56 seats, or you can split into two Sprinter vans of up to 12 each. List suitcases and any sports bags in the booking. Guests on different flights need a transfer for each arrival.

What do you need to know about Wimbledon in 2026–2027?

The 2027 Championships are played from 28 June to 11 July, with temporary road restrictions around the All England Club. Rail users bound for SW19 should note that Heathrow's Terminals 2 and 3 station shut on 25 June 2026; trains now leave from Terminal 4 or 5 only.
