London Heathrow Airport to Stratford: Route and Drive Time
This Stratford is the one in east London, in the borough of Newham, around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and not Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire. From Heathrow it is 24 miles, normally 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 5 minutes, one of the longer drives of the London districts because the route runs from one side of the city to the other.
The end of the journey is shaped by the park. Westfield Stratford City and its hotels face the park from the east; the London Stadium, the Aquatics Centre and the museums and theatre of East Bank are inside it, reached by separate roads. Stratford International station sits between the shopping centre and the park.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. For a hotel by Westfield, the hotel name is enough; for a flat on the park, give the building and the street.
Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Heathrow Airport
Flights reach Heathrow at Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5. Visitors from Paris or Amsterdam coming for East Bank usually land at Terminal 4, the base of the SkyTeam carriers from those cities; give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks.
Terminal 4 works differently since 23 June 2026, when Heathrow shut its parking building there to rebuild it; T4 arrivals are now collected from the Priority Pick-Up Area in front of the terminal. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.
If your bags are heavy, the car is the easier way: by rail, Heathrow to Stratford involves at least one change.
Arriving at Your Address in Stratford
On match days and concert nights, roads around the London Stadium are managed for the crowds. For a hotel or flat within sight of the stadium, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.
On other days the drive ends at the hotels by Westfield, at the new apartment buildings of East Village, the former athletes' village, or at the East Bank buildings by the River Lea. V&A East Museum opened there on 18 April 2026, and a museum visitor can be dropped near the entrance with the luggage.
On a morning arrival, drop the luggage at your Westfield hotel first, so the bags stay in your room while you visit the park.
From Stratford Back to London Heathrow Airport
Work out the start time from the drive itself: 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 5 minutes for the 24 miles, more in the evening rush hour. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
At Heathrow, Terminals 2 and 3 are in the central area, Terminal 4 to the south and Terminal 5 to the west. Write your departure terminal into the booking so the chauffeur drives to the right one.
Stadium events can slow your start. West Ham play their home games at the London Stadium, and Fontaines D.C. are announced there for 9 July 2027. If you leave on such a day, avoid a pick-up in the hour before the event begins.
