Airport Transfers from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Henley-on-Thames

Trusted by professionals at
One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 3 to a hotel beside Henley Bridge, Terminal 4 to a house in the lanes above the town, or a guest house on the Oxfordshire bank to Terminal 5 on the morning you leave. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Terminal 5 to a rented house by the river for Regatta week and back to Terminal 5 when racing ends, or Terminal 2 to a hotel in the market place for a long weekend. For Regatta week, reserve both journeys as soon as the dates are fixed. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LHR, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Heathrow Airport to Henley-on-Thames: Route and Drive Time

Henley-on-Thames is a riverside market town to the west of the airport, in the South Oxfordshire district. By road it is 24 miles, normally 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes. The motorway carries you most of the way west, and the M4 and the M40 each come within about seven miles of the town, so the final stretch is on country roads.

That last part decides the timing. The road into the centre crosses Henley Bridge, the five-arched Grade I bridge of 1786, beside the Leander Club. A house up the valley or a hotel on the Oxfordshire bank is a different approach from the market place.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. In the booking, name your Heathrow terminal and the house or hotel, with its street.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Heathrow Airport

Heathrow has four terminals in use, 2, 3, 4 and 5, and they sit far apart. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.

When you land, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

The train is a slow way to Henley with luggage. The town's station is the end of a short branch from Twyford, so reaching it by rail from the terminals means changing more than once, and the Heathrow station under Terminals 2 and 3 has been shut since 25 June 2026.

Arriving at Your Address in Henley-on-Thames

The town centre sits on the west bank of the Thames, where the bridge comes in. Henley Reach, the straight course used by the Regatta, runs just north of the town. For racing week, guests may rent a house along the river or up one of the lanes behind it.

If the address is a house down a narrow lane by the water, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go. For a hotel or guest house in the centre, the same applies: the more exact the address, the easier the last few hundred yards.

After an overnight flight, the car can take you to your house first, so that the cases are unpacked before you walk down to the river.

From Henley-on-Thames Back to London Heathrow Airport

Allow 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes for the return on a normal day, and judge it by duration rather than by the clock. The drive starts on local roads before it joins the motorway, so allow for both parts. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Put the departure terminal in the booking. British Airways flights leave from Terminal 5, which is approached separately from the central Terminals 2 and 3.

Henley Royal Regatta runs from Tuesday 29 June to Sunday 4 July 2027. In that week the town fills with spectators, crews and hospitality guests, so if you fly out during the Regatta, pick an earlier time to leave.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

Heathrow to Henley by road: what distance and driving time?

Normally 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes for the 24 miles, with the last part on local roads. Give your terminal and the Henley address in the booking.

Our landing slips by several hours. What then?

The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, and the collection moves to the new time. Check that the booking carries the flight you actually board.

Coming off a long flight into Heathrow, where do I meet the chauffeur for Henley?

Go by your arrival terminal. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Is Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire or Berkshire?

Oxfordshire. The town is in the South Oxfordshire district, on the west bank of the Thames, and Heathrow is 24 miles away by road. Trains to London need a change at Twyford.

We are a rowing crew with boats' kit. What vehicle do we need?

List every person and every kit bag in the booking, and the vehicle is matched to the load. Enter the number of bags in the booking form; for golf bags, bikes or other bulky items, tell support so the vehicle is matched to the load. Book early for Regatta week.
