London Heathrow Airport to Hatfield: Route and Drive Time
Hatfield is a Hertfordshire town in the borough of Welwyn Hatfield, north of London on the A1(M) between Junctions 3 and 4. From Heathrow the drive is 32 miles, normally 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes. The car circles London on the M25 and turns north onto the A1(M), so the town takes no longer to reach than some north London districts that are far closer in miles.
In Hatfield itself, the address decides the approach. The University of Hertfordshire is one destination; Hatfield House stands opposite the railway station; and offices and business parks line the motorway on the edge of town.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. The stretch of the M25 between the airport and the A1(M) junction is where peak-hour delays will show.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Heathrow Airport
Flights arrive at four terminals, 2, 3, 4 and 5, and the one you need is printed on your ticket. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.
One point for students and staff who fly in once a year: Heathrow is looking again at how airlines are spread across its terminals. The terminal you used last September may not be the one for this year's flight, so check the ticket and correct the booking if it has changed.

Arriving at Your Address in Hatfield
Hatfield is home to the University of Hertfordshire, and a ride from Heathrow may end at student accommodation, a lecture building or a staff house nearby. Others are bound for an office by the A1(M) or for a hotel near the station.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For the campus, add the name of the hall or building, as the campus has many buildings and the town name is not enough.
Hatfield House, built in the Jacobean period for the Cecil family, opens its house and gardens on set days during the season. A visitor flying in for the house can be driven from the terminal directly to the station side of town, as the house stands opposite Hatfield station.

From Hatfield Back to London Heathrow Airport
For the return, 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes is the normal drive; on a weekday morning, the M25 can stretch it. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Name your departure terminal when booking; the terminals sit apart from one another, so the car has to know which one. Your airline usually decides it: British Airways is based at Terminal 5, many Star Alliance carriers at Terminal 2.
If you are leaving at the end of the academic year or in graduation week, book your car well before the day and allow extra time for the motorway.
