Airport Transfers from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Croydon

Trusted by professionals at
One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 2 to an office on Wellesley Road, Terminal 5 to a family home in Addiscombe, or a residential tower flat near George Street to Terminal 3 for an evening long-haul departure. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Terminal 2 to a hotel by East Croydon station for a week of meetings, and the drive back to Terminal 2 for the Lufthansa flight home. When Crystal Palace play at home, and in the run-up to Christmas, cars across the borough are reserved early. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LHR, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Heathrow Airport to Croydon: Route and Drive Time

Croydon sits on the southern edge of the capital, south-east of Heathrow. From the terminals, the journey is 24 miles, normally 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. There are two ways to get there: straight across the south-western suburbs, or out to the M25 and back in from the south, and the chauffeur takes whichever is moving better on the day.

The town centre is compact. East Croydon station, with Boxpark beside it, faces the office towers on Wellesley Road and George Street; North End and its shopping centres run through the middle, with the Minster on the western side and Fairfield Halls to the east. Homes in South Croydon, Purley or Addiscombe are a few minutes further.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. For a hotel or office in the centre, the building name helps as much as the street.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Heathrow Airport

Star Alliance airlines, among them Lufthansa, United, Air Canada and Swiss, fly mainly from Terminal 2, the newest of the central terminals, which opened in 2014. Terminal 3 stands next to it, while Terminals 4 and 5 are separate. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.

Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. At Terminals 2, 3 and 5, you walk about two minutes from the terminal doors to Terminal Parking.

For your arrival, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules. A business traveller landing from Frankfurt or Toronto can head straight for a meeting on Wellesley Road.

Arriving at Your Address in Croydon

Croydon was a Surrey town until 1965 and is now the main town of its London borough. Its centre mixes office blocks, new residential towers and the Whitgift Centre and Centrale shopping centres, with Fairfield Halls hosting concerts, comedy and conferences.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. In a residential tower, add the building name and the entrance, as several blocks share a street.

If your stay is near the old Croydon Airport terminal on Purley Way, the A23, say so: it is outside the town centre, on the road south towards Purley.

From Croydon Back to London Heathrow Airport

Count the drive out from the length of the journey: 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes on an ordinary day, more when both the cross-London roads and the M25 are slow. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Put your departure terminal in the booking. A Lufthansa or United flight usually leaves from Terminal 2; a long-haul flight on Virgin Atlantic or Emirates from Terminal 3.

Crystal Palace home matches at Selhurst Park, in the north of the borough, bring extra traffic to that side of Croydon. If you fly on a match day and live near South Norwood, book an earlier pick-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

Heathrow to Croydon: what distance should I expect?

It is 24 miles to the town centre from the Heathrow terminals, normally 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes by car. Give the terminal and your Croydon address when you book.

I missed my connection and am now on a later plane. What changes?

Only the flight number: change it in your booking. The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, so the later plane is the one the chauffeur watches.

Where do I meet the driver at Terminal 2?

Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Is Heathrow or Gatwick better for Croydon?

By car, Gatwick is quicker: 22 miles, 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes, against 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes from Heathrow. Long-haul and Star Alliance routes often mean Heathrow, so the choice depends on your flight.

Our team brings exhibition kit to Fairfield Halls. Can you carry it?

Yes, if you tell us what it is. Enter the number of bags in the booking form; for golf bags, bikes or other bulky items, tell support so the vehicle is matched to the load. Display stands and boxes count as bulky items.

What do you need to know about London Heathrow Airport in 2026–2027?

In July 2026 the Whitgift Centre changed hands: its freehold went to Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, which plans a new North End, though no building date had been set by October 2026. For flights from the other side of town, Gatwick's Northern Runway has faced no legal obstacle since a court decision on 4 August 2026.
