Airport Transfers from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Chelsea

Trusted by professionals at
One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Terminal 3 to a mews house behind the King's Road, Terminal 2 to a hotel on Sloane Street, or a flat on Chelsea Embankment to Terminal 5 for an afternoon flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: Terminal 2 to a hotel off Sloane Square for Flower Show week, then back to Terminal 2 afterwards; or Terminal 5 to a King's Road flat for a month's stay and out to Terminal 5 again on departure day. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LHR, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Heathrow Airport to Chelsea: Route and Drive Time

Chelsea sits by the Thames on its northern side, in west London, with Heathrow due west. By road, Chelsea is 16 miles away, 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes in normal traffic, with the last miles through the streets of Kensington and Chelsea.

The district stretches along the King's Road, from Sloane Square in the east towards Fulham in the west. A hotel off Sloane Street, a mews house behind the King's Road and a flat on Chelsea Embankment are three different arrivals, and the one-way streets around the squares decide the final approach.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Give the landing terminal and the full Chelsea address, including the house or hotel name, when you book.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Heathrow Airport

Heathrow carried a record 84.5 million passengers in 2025 through four terminals, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Many Star Alliance airlines, among them Lufthansa and United, use Terminal 2; give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.

After touchdown, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

The Elizabeth line and the Piccadilly line both run from Heathrow, but neither reaches Sloane Square without a change, and the station under Terminals 2 and 3 has been closed since 25 June 2026.

Arriving at Your Address in Chelsea

Chelsea makes up the southern part of the royal borough it shares with Kensington. The King's Road is its spine: it leaves Sloane Square heading west, lined with shops and restaurants, with the Saatchi Gallery among them. By the river is the Royal Hospital Chelsea, where the Chelsea Pensioners live. The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is on the Fulham Road.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For a mews house or a garden square, mention which end of the street the entrance is on.

If you arrive on a morning flight with an appointment at the Chelsea and Westminster later that day, the car can drop you and the cases at your hotel or flat first.

From Chelsea Back to London Heathrow Airport

Plan the return by its duration, not the clock: 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes in ordinary traffic, longer in the weekday peaks on the westbound roads out of the centre. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

At Heathrow, the car heads for the terminal on your ticket, so check it before booking. Star Alliance flights are usually at Terminal 2, British Airways at Terminal 5.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show takes over the Royal Hospital grounds from 18 to 22 May 2027. If you leave Chelsea for a flight that week, choose an earlier pick-up time, as the show is only a few streets away.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How far is Chelsea from Heathrow?

By road Chelsea is 16 miles, normally 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes; expect more in the weekday peaks. Put the terminal and your Chelsea address in the booking.

Our flight to Heathrow has been retimed. Do we need to change anything?

No: the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, so a new arrival time is followed. Just check that the booking carries the current flight number.

How does the meeting work for arrivals at Heathrow?

The car is sent to your landing terminal; Heathrow does not allow pick-ups on the terminal forecourts; collections take place from the terminal car parks. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Does the drive from Heathrow to Chelsea enter the Congestion Charge zone?

Chelsea itself has been outside the zone since January 2011, and its boundary lies to the east, in Westminster. The Ultra Low Emission Zone covers every London borough around the clock. The rules and current rates of each charge are published by the authority or airport that runs it.

We are a garden club coming for the Flower Show. How do we book?

Book each flight separately; when you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation. Give the number of members and suitcases, and book early for show week.

What do you need to know about Chelsea in 2026–2027?

The 2027 Flower Show at the Royal Hospital is open from 18 to 22 May, and RHS members have the first two days. On 26 October 2026 a trial closed the middle of Oxford Street to traffic, over the stretch that begins at Orchard Street; it is due for review in spring 2027.
