Airport Transfers from London Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Ripley

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: the South Terminal to a house on Ripley High Street, the North Terminal to a farmhouse outside Send, or a cottage by the Wey Navigation to the South Terminal for a morning flight. For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: from the North Terminal to a guest house in Ripley for a week of garden visits, and back to Gatwick when the tour ends. For a garden tour in late spring, book early. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LGW, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Gatwick Airport to Ripley: Route and Drive Time

Ripley lies north-west of Gatwick, beside the A3 just south of Junction 10 of the M25. From the terminals to the village centre, the road distance is 31 miles, normally 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes. The route is almost a straight motorway run: up to the M25, west round the orbital past Leatherhead and Cobham, and off at the junction with the A3 at Wisley.

From there the last part is short. The A3 passes Ripley on a bypass, and the old Portsmouth road leads into the high street; RHS Garden Wisley is just north of the village, and to the west the Wey Navigation canal crosses open meadows on its way to Send and Pyrford.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Junction 10, where the A3 meets the M25, has been under a lengthy upgrade, and lane closures there can slow the last miles.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Gatwick Airport

If you fly a holiday or long-haul airline, or British Airways on a European route, you will probably land at the South Terminal; easyJet uses the North. Look at your ticket, then give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.

On the day you arrive, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

For Ripley, Heathrow is the nearer airport, but if your airline lands at Gatwick, the extra distance is on the M25. Ripley has no station, and the nearest fast trains stop at Woking, so the car saves a change with your luggage.

Arriving at Your Address in Ripley

Ripley is a village in Guildford borough with a long high street, once a staging post on the coaching road from London to Portsmouth. Around it, houses and farms spread towards Send and the Wey meadows.

If the house is on a private lane or the farm has a gated drive, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.

For a visit to RHS Garden Wisley, the Royal Horticultural Society's main garden, 2 miles from the village, 10–15 minutes by car, give the garden as the address only if you go there straight from the airport; otherwise go to your lodgings first and book the garden as a separate ride.

From Ripley Back to London Gatwick Airport

The drive back takes 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes on an ordinary day, almost all on the M25 heading east. Choose the pick-up by that drive length, not by a clock time, and add more if the junction at Wisley has works on. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

At Gatwick the North and South Terminals are separate buildings, so copy the terminal from your ticket into the booking.

Over the winter, the RHS Glow illuminations open on chosen evenings between 20 November 2026 and 3 January 2027, with timed tickets. On a Glow evening departure, expect visitors' cars around the garden entrance near the A3.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

Gatwick to Ripley: how long by car?

Normally 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes for 31 miles, on the M25 almost all the way to Junction 10 and the A3. Your booking needs the terminal and the full address.

What if my holiday flight into Gatwick touches down at 3 in the morning?

A night landing is handled like any other. The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, so a night arrival or a delay is followed. Check the flight number in the booking.

I land at the South Terminal. Where is the car?

In the South Terminal Short Stay car park, where pick-ups at that terminal take place. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Is Ripley closer to Heathrow or Gatwick?

Heathrow is closer: 21 miles, 40–55 minutes. Gatwick is 31 miles, 50 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes, but both journeys use the M25, so the airline you fly with usually decides.

Our garden club of twenty is coming to see Wisley. What do we book?

For twenty people, a coach with up to 56 seats is the usual choice; a Sprinter van takes up to 12. List the cases and any bulky items, and if members arrive separately, give each flight its own transfer and keep them together in one account.

What do you need to know about Ripley in 2026–2027?

The garden at Wisley holds its RHS Glow light trail on set evenings between 20 November 2026 and 3 January 2027; tickets are for timed slots booked in advance. On 1 April 2027 the new West Surrey Council takes over local services in Ripley, replacing both the borough and the county councils.
