Airport Transfers from London City Airport (LCY) to Forest Hill

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: the terminal to a flat off Dartmouth Road, the airport straight to the Horniman Museum for a curators' meeting, or a terraced house by Forest Hill station to the airport before an early departure. When your plane is due, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for the trip back, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: London City to a family home near the Horniman on Friday, and back to the Royal Docks on Monday for the morning flight. Because the airport is closed on Saturday afternoons, a Sunday or Monday return can be the easier choice. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at LCY, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London City Airport to Forest Hill: Route and Drive Time

Forest Hill, in the London Borough of Lewisham, lies south-west of the airport and south of the Thames. The drive is 11 miles, normally 40–55 minutes. Once across the river, the car heads south through the borough, and the final stretch follows the South Circular (A205), which passes the Horniman Museum on London Road.

How the ride ends depends on your part of the hill. Forest Hill station and the shops of Dartmouth Road form the centre, the museum and its gardens face the main road, and quiet residential streets climb the slopes around them. Catford, the civic centre of Lewisham, lies to the east. Journey times vary with traffic and weather.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London City Airport

Arrivals at London City all come through one building, so there is no terminal to pick for a Forest Hill booking. Once through the arrivals door, anyone with a booked car heads for the Short Stay car park, where pre-booked chauffeurs pick up.

Before you land, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

The DLR gets you over to Woolwich Arsenal within 7 minutes, but Forest Hill is a separate rail trip onwards from that station. For a family with cases or a pushchair, the car saves the changes.

Arriving at Your Address in Forest Hill

The Horniman Museum and Gardens is the landmark of the district. Founded by the tea trader Frederick Horniman, it moved into its present building in 1901 and marks 125 years there in 2026; its collections span natural history, world cultures and a large display of musical instruments. Dulwich Picture Gallery is a short drive west.

Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. On the steep side roads, add the house number and any flat letter, because neighbouring doors can be some way apart. If you are going straight to the museum with luggage, say so in the booking.

From Forest Hill Back to London City Airport

Going back, think of the drive itself: 40–55 minutes on an ordinary weekday, more once the South Circular fills in the morning and evening rush. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

There is no terminal number to give at London City, just the flight. The airport also closes at 12:30 on Saturdays, which matters if you are planning a weekend away.

If you leave from a house near the museum in the first weeks of its new Nature Gallery, open from 5 February 2027, the area around London Road may be busier than usual on weekends, so leave a little extra time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How much driving is it to Forest Hill from London City Airport?

Normally 40–55 minutes for the 11 miles, with the last part on the South Circular. Add your street and house number so the car pulls up at the right door.

My flight to London City has a new arrival time. Do I need to tell anyone?

No. The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time, so a changed schedule is followed without a call from you. Keep the flight number correct in the booking.

Do pre-booked chauffeurs have their own pick-up place at London City?

They do. London City sends pre-booked cars to its Short Stay car park, and the kerb by the doors is not used for these pick-ups. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

What is in the Horniman Museum?

Natural history, objects from world cultures and a large collection of musical instruments, in a building on London Road opened in 1901. The museum gardens overlook the city, and 2026 is its 125th year there.

Fourteen students and two tutors are coming for a museum course. What do we book?

Sixteen people with luggage need more than a van: a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats. A tutor flying separately is booked on a Forest Hill transfer of their own.

What do you need to know about London City Airport in 2026–2027?

Aspire is fitting out a new premium lounge for London City, due by early 2027; that year the airport also celebrates forty years of operations. Back in Forest Hill, visitors can see the Horniman's new Nature Gallery from 5 February 2027.
