Getting Around Girona
Girona is built on a human scale, and its convention bureau describes the centre as walkable. The Barri Vell, the old town, the modern centre and the Parc de la Devesa, where the Auditori Palau de Congressos stands, sit close together; the Auditori's largest hall, the Sala Montsalvatge, seats 1,236. Beyond the city, the Costa Brava is about 30 km away and the French border about 80 km.
The high-speed station on Plaça Espanya is, in the city council's words, right in the middle of the city. It lies on the line from Madrid and Barcelona to the French border: Barcelona is 37 minutes away by high-speed train, Madrid about three and a half hours and Paris about five and a half, and both Renfe and SNCF run services to France through Girona. Include your train details and arrival time when booking so we can arrange your pickup at the station.
For a full congress day, you can book one chauffeur and one vehicle by the hour: you name where the day begins and ends and how many hours you need, and the day's plan goes in with the booking. A client dinner in Besalú, about 30 km north-west, is a transfer there and another back.
The Barri Vell is open only to authorised vehicles, with a camera recording the plates at its entrance, and a low-emission zone that takes in the old town and the surrounding centre applies on weekdays from 7 am to 8 pm. Send us the full address at booking, and we will say how close to it the car can get.

Airport Transfers in Girona
Girona has its own airport, Girona-Costa Brava, about 14 km south of the city; allow 30 to 40 minutes by road. For the flights it does not offer, the city's tourist office points to Barcelona-El Prat, about 115 km south, for intercontinental connections and the main European network; that drive takes 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes. Perpignan-Rivesaltes, in France, is about 100 km north, 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, and a transfer from there crosses the frontier.
The road to Girona-Costa Brava is short, by the N-II or the AP-7. To El Prat it is the AP-7 motorway for most of the distance. Journey times vary with traffic and weather.
Book with your flight number. For airport pickups, your chauffeur monitors your flight and adjusts the pickup if your arrival time changes. Your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur. Leaving Girona, allow for the drive to the airport when choosing your pickup time: 30 to 40 minutes to Girona-Costa Brava and 1 hour 25 minutes to 1 hour 55 minutes to El Prat, longer in heavy traffic. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Long-Distance & Cross-Border Travel from Girona
Barcelona, about 100 km south, can come before or after Girona: a meeting in the city after the congress, or a few days in Girona after a stay in Barcelona. Tarragona, about 190 km down the AP-7, is a working trip of its own. The coast is closer: Lloret de Mar is about 40 km away, and a move from a city hotel to the Costa Brava is a single booking, luggage and all.
France starts just to the north. Perpignan is about 95 km away by the AP-7 and the French A9, and Montpellier about 245 km. The train crosses under the Pyrenees through the 8.3 km Perthus tunnel on the Figueres–Perpignan high-speed line; by road the same trip goes from one address to another, with the same chauffeur and car from start to finish, with no change of vehicle at the border.
France has notified the European Commission of temporary controls on its internal borders. Have with you the documents that your nationality and route call for.

Groups & Congress Travel in Girona
Groups come to Girona for its events as well as its congresses. When, for example, Temps de Flors filled the old town with flower installations in May 2026, the city council counted more than 400,000 visitors over its nine days. A congress at the Auditori brings its own arrivals: speakers on separate flights into Girona-Costa Brava and El Prat, and delegates arriving by high-speed train.
The person arranging it can hold every journey in a single account. Each transfer is still booked and confirmed separately: the speaker flying into El Prat, the delegation from the station, the guests going on to a dinner on the coast. Where a group moves together, a Sprinter van carries up to 12 people with their bags, and bigger groups go by coach, with up to 56 seats.
The dates to book early are May, for Temps de Flors, and late October into early November, when the Fires de Sant Narcís take over the city. Local vehicles and drivers are booked up early for those dates. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.
