Vancouver International Airport to Whistler: Route and Drive Time
Whistler has no commercial airport, so a trip to the resort by air ends at YVR and continues by road. The distance is 136 km, and the drive takes 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes. The car crosses Vancouver and then follows Highway 99, the Sea-to-Sky Highway, up the coast past Lions Bay and Squamish into the Coast Mountains.
Highway 99 is the only road to Whistler from the south, with few alternate routes. A crash or a rock slide, for example near Lions Bay, can close it for hours, and traffic is then turned around rather than sent on a detour. DriveBC.ca and 511 report closures as they happen.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Vancouver International Airport
Ski flights from Europe, Australia and the United States land on the international side of the Main Terminal, and flights from the rest of Canada on the domestic side. The South Terminal, a separate building, handles regional airlines and floatplanes. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
Ski bags and board bags often come out of the oversized baggage belt after the suitcases, so the wait at baggage claim can be longer in winter. At the end of the holiday, a flight home to the US starts with preclearance at YVR. With US preclearance, you clear US customs before boarding a flight to the US.

Arriving at Your Address in Whistler
Whistler Village is the heart of the resort, with hotels at the foot of the lifts, and Upper Village sits under Blackcomb Mountain. Condos and chalets fill the neighbourhoods along Highway 99 and up the hillsides, and there the address and the access road matter more than in the village.
In the village, the Whistler Conference Centre offers more than 40,000 sq ft of meeting space; the largest room measures 16,500 sq ft and seats as many as 1,500 people for a general session. Delegates often arrive the evening before the first session, after the long drive from the airport.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. For a chalet, add the unit number and any access code or gate instructions in the booking notes.

From Whistler Back to Vancouver International Airport
Plan the return on 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes from Whistler to the terminal, and allow more in snow or on a Sunday afternoon after a holiday week. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Because a single closure can stop all traffic on Highway 99, look at DriveBC.ca or call 511 on the morning of departure, and keep a margin for an international flight. Skiers heading home to the US pass preclearance at YVR before boarding, which adds time between check-in and the gate.
The last day of a ski week is often a Saturday, so the road down to Vancouver can be busier then than on a weekday.
