Vancouver International Airport to Surrey: Route and Drive Time
From Sea Island, Surrey is reached by heading south-east across the Fraser River, and it is one of the longer runs among the Metro Vancouver cities. The distance is 33 km, and the drive usually takes 40–55 minutes; Friday afternoons and the evenings before long weekends sit at the top of that range or beyond.
Surrey is large, and the address decides where the trip ends. City Centre, around the King George and Surrey Central SkyTrain stations, is the area being built up as the region's second downtown. Newton and Fleetwood are mostly residential, and South Surrey reaches down to the US border.
Journey times vary with traffic and weather. Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at Vancouver International Airport
YVR counted 26,913,561 passengers in 2025, so arrival halls are seldom quiet. Jet flights use the Main Terminal: Canadian flights on the domestic side, overseas and US flights on the international side. A smaller South Terminal handles regional airlines and floatplanes. Give your terminal in the booking and the car goes there.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pickup around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
Relatives flying in from abroad clear Canadian customs before they reach the exit, and an older traveller may need more time with the luggage; with the flight number in the booking, the chauffeur plans for the actual landing. The airport also offers preclearance for flights south. With US preclearance, you clear US customs before boarding a flight to the US.

Arriving at Your Address in Surrey
Surrey City Centre gathers the addresses that bring visitors from out of town. Surrey Memorial Hospital and SFU Surrey sit next to the Surrey Central and King George stations, with City Hall and the City Centre Library beside them. In September 2025 the UBC School of Nursing opened City Centre 1, its Surrey site, which is a 12-minute walk from King George Station.
A student arriving for a new term, a specialist coming to the hospital or a delegation meeting City Hall can be driven from the terminal straight to the right building. North of City Centre, the stal̕əw̓asəm Bridge crosses the Fraser to New Westminster; it replaced the Pattullo Bridge and has had all four lanes open since February 2026.
Give the exact address when you book, and your confirmation shows where the car will pull up. On a campus or a hospital site, add the building name.

From Surrey Back to Vancouver International Airport
Leave 40–55 minutes for the drive from Surrey to the terminal, and more before a long weekend or on a wet Friday afternoon. You set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Most departures from YVR leave from the Main Terminal, on the domestic or international side; your ticket tells you which. A flight to the US clears preclearance before boarding, which adds time inside the building.
From South Surrey, near the border, the drive starts further south than from City Centre. If you are deciding between YVR and an airport across the border, compare the full trip, crossing included, before you book.
