One-Way Service
One-Way Service covers one journey between two addresses: the YLW terminal to a hotel on the downtown waterfront, the airport to a ski condo at Big White, the terminal to a winery in West Kelowna. For an airport pickup, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur; the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: from YLW to a lakeside hotel or a winery guest house on arrival, then back to the terminal when the tasting weekend is over. With bridge traffic to plan around, it helps to have the ride to the airport settled before the trip starts. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pickup times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Some arrival days do not end at one address. With hourly service from YLW you choose at booking where the day starts, where it ends and how many hours you need, and the same chauffeur and vehicle remain with you for that whole period. Send the day's program with the booking, so the chauffeur has it before you land. It suits a day built around appointments rather than a single destination.

YLW recorded 2,315,432 passengers in 2025, which made it the ninth-busiest airport in Canada. Its single terminal stands on Highway 97 at the north end of the city, opposite the UBC Okanagan campus. YLW has no US preclearance; it is the busiest Canadian airport without it.

Downtown Kelowna is 16 km south, usually 20–25 minutes. Up the valley, Vernon is about 39 km north, 45 minutes to 1 hour. Penticton, at the south end of Okanagan Lake, is about 78 km, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. On the way to the west shore, the William R. Bennett Bridge is the only road across the lake, and traffic often slows near it.

For an arrival, your chauffeur checks the flight status and times the pickup to when you actually land, and your booking confirmation shows where to meet the chauffeur; the exact spot follows the airport's own pickup rules. For a departure, you set the pickup time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

Sprinter Van Service at Kelowna International Airport (YLW)

Wine-tour parties are a classic van group at YLW. Tourism Kelowna counts more than 25 wineries in the city itself and close to 40 once West Kelowna and Lake Country are included, out of well over 200 in the whole Okanagan Valley. A Sprinter van carries up to 12 passengers with their luggage, and the cases of wine bought along the way fit in too: mention them with the bags, as the vehicle is matched to the load. If friends fly in on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own, and when you book for other people, all their transfers can be kept in one account, each with its own booking and confirmation.

In winter the van heads up to the ski hills. Big White is about 61 km from the terminal, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, and SilverStar, above Vernon, about 63 km, 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes. Mountain roads take longer in snow, so leave room in the schedule.

Charter Bus Service at Kelowna International Airport (YLW)

Across Highway 97 from the terminal, UBC Okanagan draws visiting teams, conference delegates and families at the start and end of term. Coaches come in several sizes with up to 56 seats, and the luggage travels in the hold, so a team with kit bags or a group of ski clubs rides together from the airport.

Routes run the length of the valley. Summerland, among the vineyards south of the lake, is about 62 km, 55 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes. Sun Peaks, the ski resort near Kamloops, is about 211 km, 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours 45 minutes. Vancouver, on the coast, is about 406 km, 4 hours 20 minutes to 5 hours 50 minutes, a full day for a group that prefers the road to a connecting flight.

In ski season and in the summer wine months, local vehicles and drivers are booked up early. If your plans go beyond a standard booking, write to support with the dates, addresses, number of passengers, flights and luggage, and the team will arrange it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

How far is Big White from Kelowna airport?

About 61 km, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, with the last stretch on a mountain road that takes longer in snow. Book with your flight number, and the pickup follows the time you land. Give the lodge or condo address as the drop-off.

Does Kelowna airport have US customs preclearance?

No. Among Canadian airports without US preclearance, YLW is the busiest. Travellers to the US therefore clear customs only when they land in the United States.

How long does it take from YLW to Vernon or Penticton?

Vernon is about 39 km north of the airport, 45 minutes to 1 hour. Penticton is about 78 km, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, and the road crosses the lake on the William R. Bennett Bridge.

Our group arrives on different flights — can that be arranged?

Yes. Members of a wine-tour party or a ski club often start from different home airports, and when the group arrives on several flights, every arrival gets a transfer of its own. Before you book, tell support how many cases, boxes or sports bags travel with the party, not only the number of passengers.

Is there a bus from Kelowna airport to downtown?

Kelowna Regional Transit route 23 serves the airport, but there is no bus service in the evenings or on weekends, and there is no rail link. By car, downtown Kelowna is 16 km, usually 20–25 minutes.

What do passengers need to know about Kelowna International Airport (YLW) in 2026 and 2027?

A larger departures lounge and a new security checkpoint opened in January 2026 as part of the terminal expansion. An airport hotel with a parkade of about 1,000 stalls is due in 2027. A new interchange at Highway 97 and Airport Way is planned, with no date yet.
