Airport Transfers from London Stansted Airport (STN) to Cambridge

One-Way Transfer
A one-way transfer covers one journey between two addresses: Stansted Airport to a lab on the Biomedical Campus, the terminal to an office on the Science Park, or a guest house off Hills Road to Stansted for an evening flight. On the day you land, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time; for a departure, you set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.
Round-Trip Service
Round-Trip Service books both directions in one reservation: from Stansted Airport to a college guest room for a three-day conference, and from the college back to the terminal when the last session ends. Conference dates are known months ahead, so both legs can go in together. With both directions in one booking, the return is secured from the start; you set both pick-up times yourself, and the confirmation lists them.
Hourly Service
Hourly service keeps one chauffeur and one vehicle with you for a set number of hours. When you book, you set the start at STN, the final address and the hours you need, and you add the day's plan to the reservation so the chauffeur has it before your flight lands. It suits an arrival day with appointments, not a straight run to one hotel.

London Stansted Airport to Cambridge: Route and Drive Time

Cambridge is due north of the airport, and the M11 carries most of the trip. From the terminal to Cambridge the distance is 30 miles, normally covered in 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes.

Because the motorway arrives from the south, the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, on the southern edge of the city, is the first of the big destinations. Cambridge Science Park lies at the opposite, northern end, so a booking there adds a cross-city stretch. The colleges and the historic streets sit in between, behind a ring of bus gates.

Journey times vary with traffic and weather. A landing in the late afternoon puts the end of the trip into the city's evening traffic, so for a dinner or a seminar that day, plan on the upper figure.

Meeting Your Chauffeur at London Stansted Airport

In 2025 Stansted counted 29.76 million passengers, the fourth-highest total of any UK airport, and all of them used one terminal building. Stansted sends pre-booked chauffeurs to its Short Stay car parks for pick-ups.

From the moment you board, the chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

For a speaker due at a lecture the same day, leave a buffer for passport control and the drive: a flight landing at noon fits a mid-afternoon session better than a lunchtime one.

Arriving at Your Address in Cambridge

Cambridge has three stations, and each matches one part of the city. Cambridge South, in service since 28 June 2026, is right by the Biomedical Campus and its hospitals. Cambridge North is the stop for the Science Park, and the main station is close to the centre.

The heart of the city is protected by bus gates, among them Regent Street, Bridge Street, Silver Street and Mill Road, which ordinary cars cannot pass. For a college, a guest room or a hotel there, send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.

If your host is a college, ask the porters' lodge which entrance to give; the gate you name helps the chauffeur find the nearest point the car may use.

From Cambridge Back to London Stansted Airport

The trip south takes 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes on an ordinary day, most of it on the M11. Let that length set the pick-up, not the departure hour. You set the pick-up time yourself, and the confirmation shows it.

There is only one terminal for departures at Stansted, so you need no terminal number; the flight time and your Cambridge address complete the booking. For a pick-up inside the bus-gate area, name a point the car can reach, such as a college's back gate on an open road.

IWM Duxford, south of the city on the side of the airport, has a flying day planned for Saturday 5 June 2027. If you fly out that day, leave extra margin for visitors on the roads to the museum.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before booking your airport transfer with Bookinglane.

Stansted Airport to Cambridge by car: how long does it take?

The city is 30 miles away by road, normally 1 hour to 1 hour 25 minutes along the M11. The Science Park, at the northern end, takes a little longer than the Biomedical Campus in the south.

What if my flight into Stansted lands much later than planned?

You do not need to call anyone. The chauffeur tracks your flight and plans the pick-up around the real landing time. A change of flight number is the only thing to send to support.

Where is the pick-up point for chauffeurs at Stansted?

The airport routes chauffeur pick-ups through its Short Stay car parks by the one terminal. Your booking confirmation tells you where to meet, and the exact spot follows the airport's own pick-up rules.

Can the car take me to a college in the centre of Cambridge?

Sometimes only to the nearest open street. Bus gates on Regent Street, Bridge Street, Silver Street and Mill Road keep ordinary traffic out of the centre, so send the full address with the booking and we will tell you how close the car can go.

We are a delegation of fourteen for a conference. Do we need two vehicles?

With fourteen people you are over the twelve seats of a Sprinter van, so the group needs two vehicles or a coach. List the bags and any equipment cases, and say which delegates arrive on other flights.

What do you need to know about Cambridge in 2026–2027?

Since 28 June 2026 the city has had a third station, Cambridge South, beside the Biomedical Campus; it opened later than the original 2025 date. At the airport, June 2026 was the busiest June Stansted had ever recorded, with 2.88 million passengers.
